Enhancing the status of women in the new era

Attending and co-chairing the conference were comrades: Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women; Doan Hong Vu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Standing Deputy Head and members of the Committee.

In 2018, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women organized 4 workshops on gender equality; promoting the role of women in the new era. Organized 7 training courses on gender equality for nearly 900 participants and 4 communication and dialogue sessions for officials and people in remote districts.

Comrade Le Hong Vinh and male members presented flowers to female members of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8).

Inspections are conducted regularly, focusing on the following contents: Implementation of policies, laws, and programs related to gender equality and women's advancement; female cadre work and planning, sourcing, appointment, and use of female cadres; violence against women and girls; issues that negatively impact women, etc.

The work of female cadres continues to receive attention, direction and implementation. The number of women participating in the Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term at the provincial level includes 8 female comrades participating in the Provincial Party Committee; 2 comrades participating in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee. At the district level, 21 districts, cities and towns have 2 female deputy secretaries, 33 members of the Standing Committee, and 146 members of the District Party Committee.

In 2019, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women continued to implement the Resolution of the Politburo and the Central Committee on women's work in the new situation. Advised on the implementation of programs and plans on gender equality and women's advancement, especially the projects: "Strengthening the Party's leadership on gender equality and women's advancement in the new situation in Nghe An province"; "Prevention and response to gender-based violence in the period 2016-2020 and vision to 2030"; well organized the implementation of "Month of action for gender equality and prevention and combat of gender-based violence in 2019".

In his concluding remarks, Comrade Le Hong Vinh directed that in 2019, it is necessary to promote propaganda activities, disseminate and educate policies and laws on gender equality, especially in the political field. Strengthen the work of female cadres, develop solutions to increase the rate of women participating in political activities, enhance the status of women in the new era; improve the capacity of state management on gender equality and integrate gender equality issues in the development of legal documents...
