Endemic and emerging diseases that need to be focused on prevention and control are Covid-19, dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, flu, bird flu, monkeypox, etc. The requirement is that localities and medical units need to promote vaccination; closely monitor the epidemic situation, regularly assess and analyze the situation and risk factors; proactively develop scenarios and response plans; prepare conditions to ensure epidemic prevention and control; be ready to receive and treat.
In addition to the dangers of epidemics, the pressure on medical examination and treatment during Tet is not small. According to statistics from the Nghe An Health Department: During the 6 days of the Lunar New Year holiday in 2022 alone, Nghe An provided medical examination and emergency care to 19,777 patients. Of which, the number of inpatients was 7,040 and the number of severe or critical cases was 151... This number shows that the number of patients examined and treated during Tet is very large, still increasing year by year.

To do a good job of epidemic prevention and control, medical examination and treatment during the Lunar New Year 2023, on December 23, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 22/CT-TTg; The Minister of Health issued Directive No. 06/CT-BYT on strengthening medical work to ensure the celebration of the Lunar New Year 2023; Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and Nghe An Department of Health also issued documents directing localities and medical units to prepare all conditions to be ready to perform well the tasks of examination, treatment, and disease prevention during Tet.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Le - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health said: The Department of Health has requested medical units to thoroughly educate all medical staff and employees to perform their professional duties well to protect people's health; monitor to detect early and promptly handle infectious disease outbreaks; ensure adequate supplies and medicines; provide 24/7 emergency care for people; effectively prevent and control Covid-19, promote Covid-19 vaccination; step up inspection, examination and propaganda to raise public awareness and consciousness in ensuring food safety.
To ensure smooth medical work, the Department of Health also established working groups to inspect grassroots medical facilities in 21 districts, cities, towns and provincial medical units; visit and give gifts to medical staff in difficult circumstances and patients being treated. To meet the emergency blood demand, Nghe An Health Department has also planned to organize the "Pink Drops White Blouse" Voluntary Blood Donation Festival in 2023.

Dr. Chu Trong Trang - Deputy Director in charge of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control said: The Center has directed units to strictly implement border medical quarantine activities; prepare human resources, facilities, equipment, vehicles, and chemicals to ensure good medical quarantine activities; strengthen Covid-19 epidemic surveillance to promptly detect outbreaks and clusters of cases with unusual developments and characteristics; continue to promote Covid-19 vaccination; assign staff and organize full epidemic prevention and control duties during the Tet holiday.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong - Director of Nghe An General Hospital said: "To ensure good examination and treatment during Tet, the hospital has scheduled work and arranged human resources carefully. Accordingly, 100% of departments and rooms are open and operate as usual. With the motto "hospital is home", the hospital will also give meals and gifts to patients being treated on this occasion"...
Similarly, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Director of Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital also said: "Unlike other medical facilities, when Tet comes, the number of patients admitted to the hospital for treatment often increases. Therefore, during this time, all hospital activities are guaranteed to be as normal. The hospital has also developed plans to receive and treat a large number of patients due to traffic accidents, if any."
Not only provincial health units but also district health units have been carefully ensured of human resources and material resources. At Quy Chau District Health Center, departments and offices have fully prepared equipment, medicines, assigned duty schedules, and ensured the examination, treatment, and emergency care of patients.
Dr. Dang Tan Minh - Director of the Center shared: "The Center has established both official and reserve teams to meet the people's needs for medical examination and treatment as well as in case of epidemics, food poisoning, and accidents. In addition, the Center also regularly collects information about epidemics; assigns staff to strengthen the staff of medical stations; directs medical stations to be on duty 24/24h, strengthens communication work on disease prevention, food safety and accident prevention".
To proactively prevent and fight epidemics during Tet, all people need to pay attention and proactively implement disease prevention measures such as wearing masks in high-risk areas, washing hands with disinfectant regularly; getting vaccinated fully and on schedule; keeping the body warm when the weather turns cold; avoiding contact with people showing signs of infectious diseases; eating a nutritious diet, ensuring nutrition, eating lots of fruit to help the body increase vitamins, improve resistance; not eating blood pudding, not eating sick, dead poultry and poultry products of unknown origin; when there are signs of suspected illness, it is necessary to notify and go immediately to a medical facility for timely guidance, examination and treatment.
