Nghe An: The value of aquatic and seafood catches in 6 months reached over 1,600 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - In the first 6 months of 2019, Nghe An caught more than 78 thousand tons of aquatic and seafood products, equal to 53.42% of the yearly plan. The total value of catch is estimated at more than 1,686 billion VND.
According to the Department of Fisheries, Nghe An province currently has 3,521 fishing boats, of which 1,450 have a capacity of over 90 CV.

In the first 6 months of 2019, the output of aquatic and marine products reached 78,707 tons. Of which, the output of aquatic products reached 75,857 tons of various types of seafood, equal to 53.42% of the annual plan, up 7.15% over the same period last year; the total value reached over 1,615 billion VND.
Inland fishing output reached: 2,850 tons of various aquatic products, equal to 57.00% of the yearly plan, up 4.70% over the same period last year.

Nghe An fishermen catch seafood by main methods: hook, line, purse seine, and drag. Of which, trawling has the highest yield of 22,572 tons, purse seine 20,038 tons, trawl 5,811 tons... other methods have yield of more than 27 thousand tons.
The main fishing grounds are mainly concentrated in the Gulf of Tonkin, offshore and coastal areas of Nghe An.
Nghe An currently has 235 ships and boats with a length of 24 m or more. By the end of June, Nghe An had installed 180 voyage monitoring devices for 180 ships and boats with a length of over 24 m. Of these, 172 were supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, 8 were invested by fishermen. It is expected that by July 15, Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station will complete the installation of voyage monitoring devices for 100% of ships and boats according to the provisions of the 2017 Fisheries Law.
