Nghe An takes samples for testing of relatives of 'case 184'

(Baonghean.vn) - A series of employees of Truong Sinh Company, where 9 patients tested positive for Covid-19, are from Dien Van commune, Dien Chau, including "case 184" who recently returned to his hometown.

On the evening of March 29, speaking to a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of Nghe An Department of Health said that medical staff had just taken samples for testing of a series of cases in Dien Van commune, Dien Chau. These were relatives and people in close contact with "case 184".

Truong Sinh Company has a director who is from Dien Van commune. Therefore, this company has up to 8 employees who are children of the commune. Truong Sinh is a unit specializing in providing services to Bach Mai Hospital and many other hospitals.

To date, the Bach Mai Hospital outbreak has had 18 cases, of which 9 are employees of Truong Sinh Company. "Of the 8 people from Dien Van who are working at this company, 4 returned to their hometown on March 11 and went to Hanoi on March 13, including case 184. Although it has been more than 14 days, we still have to take samples for testing to be sure," Mr. Chinh said, adding that the health agency has quarantined the families of these employees at home.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long assessed that "Truong Sinh is a dangerous epidemic area, with a risk of community infection. This company not only provides services to Bach Mai Hospital but also to other hospitals," he said.

Nghe An has nearly 1,000 people who have come to Bach Mai Hospital for examination and treatment during the epidemic. Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control said that the Provincial Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention has directed the Steering Committees of districts, cities and towns to review all inpatients, outpatients, family members who have taken care of and accompanied patients to Bach Mai Hospital for examination and treatment and have been discharged from the hospital within 14 days to quarantine at home and closely monitor their health for 14 days.

The provincial Center for Disease Control will conduct testing in order of risk according to regulations for inpatients. Other cases will be sampled when there are suspected symptoms of the disease. Through Nghe An Newspaper, Mr. Dinh also requested all these people, when they know the information, to immediately declare their health online and notify the local health department for instructions. The community joins hands to support and encourage the quarantined cases and their families. Do not discriminate, avoid, or discriminate because of excessive anxiety.
