Nghe An: A school employee was arrested for molesting a 9th grade female student

On the afternoon of November 12, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Tam - Head of Nam Dan District Police said that the unit had completed the file and sent it to the People's Procuracy at the same level to prosecute Nguyen Tien Nhan (50 years old, residing in Nam Trung commune) for the crime of Obscenity with a person under 16 years old. Before being arrested, Nhan was an equipment employee at Nam Dan 2 High School.

The victim in the case is a female student in grade 9. According to the victim, on the afternoon of November 7, she was cooking in her house when Mr. Nhan arrived. Before that, Mr. Nhan was drinking at her neighbor's house. "He asked where my father was going. After knowing that I was home alone, he gave me a 200,000 VND bill and said it was a gift for October 20th and that he had the chance to give it to me now," the 15-year-old female student told a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper.

According to the victim, even though she refused to accept the money, Mr. Nhan still tried to stuff it into her body. "After that, he started touching me all over. He said he had feelings for me for a long time. He also asked me how tall I was. When I said I didn't know, he started using gloves to measure me from bottom to top...", the small female student said. After that, the girl struggled and escaped. At that moment, her 11-year-old brother also came home from playing, so he ran to call his father.

Working with the victim’s father, Mr. Nhan admitted his actions and said that he was too drunk, and asked for forgiveness from his family. However, the incident was later reported to the police. On November 7, Nam Dan District Police detained Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhan to take his statement and investigate the case.

Mr. Ho Quoc Viet - Principal of Nam Dan 2 High School said that Mr. Nhan used to be the school's accountant, however, in 2015, he committed financial violations and was disciplined, transferred to work as an equipment employee and supervisor. Mr. Nhan does not have a wife, however, in recent years he has been living as husband and wife with a woman living in the same commune.

Regarding the information that Mr. Nhan had similar behavior with female students in the school, the principal said that he had never received any feedback. "Since I came to the school in 2015, I have not received any feedback. However, Mr. Nhan is also very youthful in nature, so he often teases the female students. As for molesting and groping, I have not received any feedback from the students," Mr. Viet said.
