Nghe An: 7 fishing boats fined 35 million VND for violating regulations on coastal exploitation and fishing
(Baonghean.vn) - From June 8 to 10, the Nghe An Province Interdisciplinary Team conducted a coastal inspection from the South of Lach Quen fishing port to the Mat Island area and the South of Hon Ngu, bordering the Ha Tinh sea. In 3 days, the team discovered and penalized 7 violating vessels.

On June 8, the delegation fined the vessel with license plate NA - 90218-TS of Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Dien Ngoc commune and the vessel with license plate NA - 80029-TS of Mr. Dang Van Thuy, Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau), each 5 million VND for using fishing gear to obstruct legal fishing according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 27 of Decree 42/2019/ND-CP.
The vessel with license plate NA - 0046 - TS of fisherman Dau Tran Hung in Dien Bich commune (Dien Chau) was fined 10 million VND for not fully equipping safety equipment for fishing vessels 12m or longer in length when exploiting aquatic resources.

On June 9 and 10, the delegation fined fishing boat with license plate NA - 0799 - TS of Mr. Tran Van Binh in hamlet 1, Dien Hung commune 7.5 million VND for using illegal fishing gear to obstruct legal fishing activities in coastal areas; fined boat with license plate NA 2981 - TS of Mr. Vu Van Bon in Dien Ngoc commune 5 million VND; fined fishing boat with license plate NA 1917-TS of Mr. Tran Van Nguyen in Dong Loc hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune 2.5 million VND for illegally abandoning fishing gear.
Currently, the delegation is carrying out procedures to fine the fishing boat with license plate TH - 91571 - TS of Thanh Hoa fishermen for fishing in the coastal waters of Nghe An and registering the vessel's license plate incorrectly.

The above fishing boat owners mainly violated Clause 1 and Clause 3, Article 27 of Decree 42/2019/ND-CP when illegally abandoning fishing gear in natural waters or abandoning fishing gear to obstruct legal fishing activities of individuals and organizations in coastal waters. However, due to mitigating circumstances and the fishermen's first violation, the delegation only imposed the minimum fine.

According to Plan No. 628/KH-UBND dated October 31, 2019 of the Provincial People's Committee, on May 8, 2010, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An issued a Plan and established an interdisciplinary team to conduct inspections and rectify coastal exploitation and fishing activities. It is expected that from May to October 2020, the team will have 6 inspection and supervision trips. This is the second inspection and the team will operate until June 14, 2020.
