Nghe An solemnly celebrates the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the Agriculture and Environment sector (November 14, 1945 - November 14, 2025)
On the afternoon of November 6, in the exciting emulation atmosphere of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people of the country towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnam Agriculture and Environment sector.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former provincial leaders; representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Also attending were comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Provincial Party Executive Committee, and leaders of local departments and branches.
Building modern agriculture, civilized countryside, sustainable environment
On November 14, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree establishing the Ministry of Agriculture, opening a new chapter for Vietnam's agriculture sector. From that historical flow, Nghe An's Agriculture and Environment sector has continued to write proud pages of history over the past 80 years.
At the ceremony, comrade Hoang Quoc Viet - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment gave a profound speech, reviewing the 80-year journey of formation and development of the industry associated with the revolutionary history and the construction of Nghe An homeland through 4 stages:
Worrying about "food and clothing" amid the flames of war (1945 - 1954); building socialism - agriculture linked to the resistance war against the US (1954 - 1975); Overcoming the consequences of war, entering the period of innovation, escaping poverty (1975 - 2000); Integration - agriculture is the pillar of the economy, environment is the pillar of sustainable development (from 2000 to present).

In particular, on March 1, 2025, marking a historic turning point in the development of the industry, the Department of Agriculture and Environment was officially established and put into operation on the basis of merging the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
This is a major strategic orientation, linking production and conservation, exploiting potential with protecting the origin. It is a step affirming the determination on the path of creating a modern, ecological, circular agriculture, effectively responding to climate change; at the same time, managing and rationally using natural resources and protecting the environment.
The Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An affirmed: Entering the 21st century, Nghe An agriculture and environment have affirmed their role as pillars of the economy. Despite natural disasters, epidemics, and crises, agriculture still stands firm, ensuring people's livelihoods; the environment is preserved, ensuring sustainable development. The main targets of the industry have all met and exceeded the set targets.
Looking back on the 80-year journey, from practical leadership and achieved results, comrade Hoang Quoc Viet summarized 6 major lessons, principles and suggested that the whole industry should engrave and apply them to every decision and action program in the new era to realize the consistent goal of building a modern, ecological Nghe An agriculture, adapting to climate change and developing sustainably, contributing to the successful implementation of Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and the targets of the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress.
“80 years, that is a golden harvest, an epic extending from tradition to the present. And today, from that 80-year foundation, we confidently embark on a new journey: The journey of creating a modern agriculture, a civilized countryside, a sustainable environment, worthy of the stature and tradition of President Ho Chi Minh's homeland”, said the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An.
In his speech, comrade Hoang Quoc Viet also expressed gratitude for the great sacrifices and contributions of the people and previous generations; the dedication, enthusiasm and contributions of generations of leaders; gratitude for the attention and guidance of the Party and State, the companionship of businesses, and the joint efforts of farmers.
Tcontinue to play a pioneering role in green, sustainable development
Speaking at the event, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reviewed the outstanding milestones in the 80-year journey of formation and development of the Nghe An Agriculture and Environment sector.
He affirmed that with the outstanding efforts and dedication of the intellect and labor of generations of cadres, engineers, workers and laborers, the industry has worked hard to cultivate and build a strong, durable, modern and proud agriculture, resources and environment, as demonstrated by impressive figures.
“On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee, I respectfully commend, acknowledge and congratulate the great, silent but extremely valuable contributions of generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and all farmers of the province over the past 80 years,” said Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh.
Faced with the requirement of developing in a new, green and sustainable direction and the determination to strive to successfully implement Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Resolution No. 137/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the special mechanism for Nghe An development; Resolution of the 20th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, the head of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested the sector to continue to innovate thinking, improve management, create new values and focus on implementing 5 important tasks.
First of all, we need to continue to make breakthroughs and strongly innovate the mindset from "agricultural production" to "agricultural economy", taking technological innovation and digital transformation as the foundation; developing green, ecological, circular, and smart agriculture; strongly applying IoT, Big Data, traceability, and value chain management.
At the same time, restructure the agricultural sector according to ecological zones and key products, develop concentrated commodity production areas; concentrate resources, promote investment in modern agricultural infrastructure, adapt to climate change; speed up the progress of key projects.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province also requested the industry to strengthen management, effectively use resources, protect the environment, respond to climate change; promote green transformation, reduce emissions, and preserve biodiversity; focus on drastically implementing the 90-day campaign to clean up land data; strictly manage mineral and water resource activities; relocate polluting facilities out of residential areas; promote socialization of environmental protection, and build green - clean - beautiful - safe rural areas.
Along with that, the industry needs to promote administrative reform, digital transformation, develop high-quality human resources, build a "streamlined, effective, efficient, serving people and businesses" apparatus; strengthen administrative discipline and order; practice thrift, prevent corruption and negativity.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh also hopes that generations of leaders of the Agriculture and Environment sector will continue to be dedicated, exchange experiences, and give advice so that the sector and the province can further develop.
“80 years, a glorious journey, a journey of efforts and perseverance to overcome difficulties of the Nghe An Agriculture and Environment sector. With its fine traditions, spirit of solidarity, innovation and aspiration to rise up, I believe that the sector will continue to play a pioneering role in green and sustainable development, making an important contribution to the goal of making Nghe An a fairly developed province of the country, the economic and social center of the North Central region, as determined in the spirit of Resolution No. 39 of the Politburo and the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress”, said the head of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.
On this occasion, authorized by the provincial leaders, the provincial leaders awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to 3 individuals; the Government's Emulation Flag to 1 collective; the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to 3 individuals; the Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment and the banner of the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee to the collective of the Department of Agriculture and Environment; the Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment to 2 individuals; the Emulation Flag of the Provincial People's Committee to 2 collectives; the title of Provincial Emulation Fighter to 11 individuals; the Certificate of Merit of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 08 collectives and 12 individuals.
