16 years ago, on September 26, 2007, with the alliance of non-governmental organizations, the International Association of Scientific and Medical Associations agreed to make September 26 of each year World Contraception Day.

This year, World Contraception Day is being held under the theme “Choose a suitable contraceptive method to avoid unwanted pregnancy”. This aims to raise the responsibility of young people for safe sex and proactive contraception, and at the same time, encourage people to be proactive in their pregnancy for their own benefit and the community, to help them make informed choices about sexual and reproductive health.
RespondWorld Contraception DayIn recent years, Nghe An province has implemented many practical and exciting activities from the grassroots, attracting a large number of people to participate, thereby contributing to raising awareness and understanding for the community about the meaning and responsibility in proactively avoiding pregnancy, building a prosperous and happy family.

Thanks to that, the rate of people using contraceptives is increasing, the family model of small children, equality, prosperity, happiness has become the norm and spread in the community. Especially, when society is constantly developing, life is becoming more modern and civilized, there are more and more modern and safer contraceptives, meeting people's needs...
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Huu Le highly appreciated the efforts of the entire sector in responding to World Contraception Day. However, the leaders of the health sector also pointed out the difficulties and challenges of the Nghe An Population sector when entering a new phase.
In particular, at present, in Nghe An, the number of women of childbearing age is increasing every year. The quality of the population is still limited; the number of women of childbearing age suffering from reproductive tract infections is still high. The situation of early sexual intercourse, unsafe sex, unwanted pregnancy, and abortion is still happening; the risk of sexually transmitted diseases in adolescents and young people still exists.
It is alarming that the rate of secondary infertility due to abortion accounts for up to 20% of infertility cases, of which 70% are abortions in adolescents.

Meanwhile, safe contraception brings many benefits, helping women take the initiative in giving birth, avoiding obstetric complications and not getting sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, contraception helps each family have 2 children, thereby having the conditions to take care of and educate children better, improving the quality of life and economy of each family.
Responding to World Contraception Day, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Huu Le requested Party committees, authorities, departments, branches and organizations to continue to pay attention to leading and directing population work in the new situation. At the same time, consider this an important and regular content of all levels and branches to build small families, contributing to improving population quality, creating a widespread influence throughout society.

Industry leaders also hope that the health sector at all levels needs to be proactive and decisive in consulting and implementing activities. In particular, continuing to consolidate, improve, expand and develop the network of family planning services, diversifying contraceptive methods, especially modern contraceptive methods, so that all people of childbearing age can access them conveniently and safely.
On the part of the Population sector, it is necessary to strictly manage the supply and use of contraceptives, ensuring compliance with professional regulations and State laws. Deploy models of counseling and provision of reproductive health care and family planning services suitable for each target group, prioritizing densely populated areas and areas with high birth rates. Improve the quality of family planning services at medical facilities according to technical levels, on the basis of enhancing training to ensure requirements on technical expertise and counseling skills for service providers and strengthening supervision of service quality.

In addition, implement pre-marital education programs for men and women and comprehensive sex education programs for middle and high school students. Combine with providing reproductive health care services and services to prevent and control sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS, for adolescents and young people to help them gain more knowledge and skills on reproductive health care, prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.
On this occasion, the Department of Health awarded 15 gifts to exemplary families that have well implemented the population policy of Hung Nguyen district.
