People in African swine fever area petition to set up checkpoints on National Highway 48B
(Baonghean.vn) - People in Quynh My commune (Quynh Luu, Nghe An) are worried about the situation of cars transporting pigs passing through National Highway 48B through the commune while this area is experiencing an epidemic.
The concerns of Quynh My residents are well-founded as there are many trucks carrying pigs passing through Hamlet 7, Quynh My Commune, but they are not quarantined or disinfected while the commune is suffering from swine fever.
Mr. Tran Van Su - Head of Hamlet 7 said: "At the entrance and exit points of Hamlet 7, the commune has set up epidemic control checkpoints; however, on National Highway 48, they have not. Hamlet 7 is located along National Highway 48, and not controlling vehicles carrying pigs and livestock on this route will lead to the risk of spreading the epidemic."

Previously, on March 12, Mr. Hoang Van L.'s family (in hamlet 7, Quynh My commune, Quynh Luu district) had two sick sows. The local authorities took samples and destroyed these two sows. Later, the test results were positive for African swine fever, so that evening, the Department of Animal Health and Quynh Luu district destroyed the entire herd of pigs and disinfected the surrounding area.
On March 13 and 14, disinfection work was completed in the epidemic area. Hamlet 7, Quynh My commune has set up 2 checkpoints to restrict the spread of the disease.

Mr. Le Xuan Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh My Commune, Quynh Luu District said: "The feedback from the people of Hamlet 7 is very practical. However, setting up an epidemic control checkpoint on National Highway 48B is not under the authority of the commune, so we hope that the district and higher-level departments will soon deploy it to control vehicles transporting pigs through the epidemic area."
