Observing the Hoa Son village area, we saw a new iron bridge built across the stream, replacing the previous bamboo bridge. Some households have converted the land to grow vegetables to improve their lives.

Ms. Ngan Thi Tam in Hoa Son village is taking care of her vegetable garden and shared: “After the flash flood, my family used the remaining pillars to cover the corrugated iron sheet to build a temporary tent on the spot. My family hopes to have a new resettlement area soon to move to safely because in 3-4 months the flood season will come again.”

Ms. Kha Thi May in Hoa Son village said: My family of 4 is living temporarily in Hoa Son village. The rainy season is approaching, we are very worried. Currently, my husband and I have had to move some of our belongings and supplies to a temporary house on the farm for safety.

Hoa Son village, Ta Ca commune has 244 households, of which 64 households had their houses destroyed by flash floods and had to temporarily set up tents to live in recently, some households live with relatives. The wish of the people of Hoa Son village is to soon implement the construction of a resettlement area, so that people in the affected areas canflash floodmoved to a new place.

To ensure the safety of people in flash flood areas, on December 9, 2022, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Official Dispatch No. 9765/UBND-NN on "Construction of infrastructure for emergency resettlement areas for people in Muong Xen town and Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district".

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Ky Son district to be responsible for accurately reviewing the number of households that lost their homes and need to move to a new resettlement site to select locations and determine the investment scale of the Resettlement Area project (phase 1) to ensure timeliness, economy, efficiency and suitability to reality.

Immediately after the direction of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Ky Son District People's Committee coordinated with relevant departments to survey and plan resettlement areas for households in areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides. Specifically, 3 locations in Muong Xen town and Ta Ca commune were surveyed.

In particular, the land area in Cau Tam village of Ta Ca commune was chosen as the place to build the resettlement area, this area has the most advantages for traffic connection, construction of national grid electricity and natural water, and schools. The new resettlement area of ​​Cau Tam village is planned with an area of ​​12.9 hectares, with an expected 5.7 hectares for 225 households. Currently, 100% of the people subject to relocation agree with the resettlement policy.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Minh - Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committee added: Currently, with socialized support sources, the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has transferred 25 billion VND to Ky Son District to build a resettlement area for people in the flash flood area. The district is waiting for the Provincial People's Committee to approve the use of this source to build this resettlement area.

After receiving the policy of the Provincial People's Committee and instructions from departments, branches and districts, the next steps will be implemented, such as organizing bidding to build resettlement areas.

The only road in Ky Son is still in disarray after flash floods.
