(Baonghean.vn) - Based on the available potential, advantages as well as stable prices and output, recently, Mr. Tran Thanh Quang, Trung Thinh hamlet, Nghia Hieu commune (Nghia Dan) has brought Boer crossbred goats to raise.

The Boer goat is an imported breed originating from South Africa. This is a goat with many outstanding features such as being easy to raise, voracious, growing fast, and producing a lot of meat. Each adult Boer goat weighs from 80 - 100kg.

From those advantages, in 2021, Mr. Quang's family decided to learn and study farming techniques. After gaining knowledge, Mr. Quang boldly invested in building a barn and bought a herd of 34 goats for testing, of which 15 were breeding. Thanks to his diligence in learning and applying the rightcare process, the goat herd develops favorably.

Mr. Quang shared: The Boer crossbred goat has high resistance, is less susceptible to disease and is much taller than the local goat breed. When choosing male goats for fattening, choose those that are healthy, muscular, have four strong legs, are agile and have smooth fur.

In particular, raising crossbred Boer goats does not require much investment, grows very quickly, produces large meat output, and has high productivity, so farmers can quickly recover their capital. Boer goats are also quite fertile, have high prices, stable output, and a strong consumer market. After crossbreeding, the family's goat herd has higher profits than raising conventional goat breeds.

Togoat farmingTo achieve efficiency, Mr. Quang pays special attention to building barns and preventing diseases for them. Currently, his farm is raising 50 crossbred Boer goats for meat.

With such a number of goats, he divided them into 3 pens, each pen is about 25m wide.2, made of mixed wood, roofed with corrugated iron to ensure ventilation, avoid heat, rain, and wind. The barn floor is 1-2m above the ground, along with regular cleaning and disinfection of the barn to prevent diseases for goats.

For the Boer hybrid goats, they only need to be fattened for about 3 - 3.5 months before they can be sold. Therefore, Mr. Quang invested in planting more than 3 sao of elephant grass, providing additional food such as banana tree trunks, bran, corn, and feeding the goats 3 times a day.

According to Mr. Quang, although the goats do not give birth to more kids than the Bach Thao goats, in return the kids are big, weighing 3-4 kg right after birth. The goats grow quickly, after 5-6 months they weigh 32-35 kg/kid. Meanwhile, the Bach Thao goats only weigh about 18-20 kg/kid.

On the other hand, the price of Boer breeding goats and meat goats is also higher than that of Bach Thao goats. Thanks to his hard work, he has now mastered many secrets of goat raising and has become a pioneer in developing the model of raising Boer crossbred goats for fattening in the locality. He is also willing to provide technical guidance to people in the area who want to start a business from the goat raising model.

Although newly deployed, the Boer goat breeding model of Mr. Tran Thanh Quang's family has brought positive results. This is also the model chosen by the People's Committee of Nghia Hieu commune to replicate, helping to improve the agricultural economy for the people.

Mr. Huu Nhu Ngoc - Vice Chairman of Nghia Hieu Commune People's Committee said: "The Boer goat breeding model of Mr. Quang's family is well-established. The goats are raised cleanly, ensuring hygiene and safety, so the market is very fond of them. This breeding model has brought high income to Mr. Quang's family. From these models, the commune will organize for farmer members to visit and learn in order to replicate them."

With a passion for getting rich in his hometown, in the near future, Mr. Quang plans to expand the scale of the barn in a closed direction, multiply goat breeds, promising to become a large-scale goat farm not only in Nghia Hieu commune but also one of the large Boer goat farms in Nghia Dan district.
