Launching response to World Diabetes Day
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 12, in Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An Department of Health coordinated with Endocrinology Hospital to launch a response to World Diabetes Day on November 14.
In recent times, diabetes in Nghe An has tended to increase: In 2013, Nghe An had a diabetes rate of 5.7%, in 2017 it was 7.13% and it is expected to increase to 9% in 2018. This is truly a threat to human health.

Since the beginning of the year, Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital has examined and consulted over 7,600 people with prediabetes; screened over 1,200 people for diabetes. The program's goal is to educate 60% of the population about the disease; limit the increase in the rate of disease; control the rate of prediabetes to 20%, diabetes to 10% for the age group of 30-69; detect 50% of people with diabetes and 55% of people with prediabetes; train 100% of staff in the province's endocrine and metabolic system.
At the same time, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of disease prevention, monitoring, and treatment management; continue to maintain and develop the system of endocrine and metabolic units throughout the province. To achieve this goal, Nghe An province also proposed 8 basic groups of solutions.
At the ceremony, Dr. Dau Huy Hoan - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health launched a response to World Diabetes Day: Calling on the community to raise awareness and take active actions to prevent and detect diabetes; patients need to take good care to slow the progression of diabetes; mass organizations and communities care for patients; deploy strategic goals and effective policies in preventing and managing diabetes; improve knowledge of physicians.
After the launching ceremony, delegates and health officials organized a parade in Hung Nguyen district to promote diabetes prevention./.
