This time, all residents in 25 wards and communes will be sampled, in the form of pooled samples for each household.

According to the plan, on the afternoon of August 31, 660 medical staff will begin the sampling campaign. It is expected that during the day, samples will be taken from more than 67,000 people in 6 wards and communes including Le Mao, Le Loi, Cua Nam, Ha Huy Tap, Quang Trung, and Hung Chinh.

According to the report of Vinh City People's Committee, in 2 community sampling rounds, 83 positive cases were detected, including 16 children.

In the first phase, samples were taken from nearly 290,000 people, equivalent to 84% of Vinh's current population. In the second phase, medical staff only focused on taking samples in high-risk wards such as Vinh Tan, Hong Son, Hung Binh and Nghi Phu. In other wards and communes, authorities only screened and took samples from the remaining people who had not been tested in the first phase.

Also through these two sampling rounds, authorities identified Vinh Tan and Hong Son wards and Nghi Phu commune as very high-risk areas.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vinh City has recorded 481 people infected with Covid-19. In this outbreak, most of the cases have been transmitted from Vinh wholesale market.

In a meeting with Vinh City on the evening of August 30, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health said that through two large-scale testing rounds, a large number of F0 cases had been detected. However, the current epidemic situation in Vinh City is complicated, with a high risk of an outbreak.

The Director of the Department of Health therefore requested Vinh City to be more drastic, synchronous, and effective in fighting the epidemic. In particular, it is necessary to continue taking community samples in "red" and high-risk areas. To successfully take samples, learning from previous rounds, the media needs to be one step ahead. It is necessary to analyze epidemiology to assess the epidemic situation in the area. Manage people's movements, screen all high-risk subjects (F1) for isolation, and avoid missing them. At the same time, promptly develop a plan and prepare locations to vaccinate safe subjects, gradually increasing vaccine coverage among the people.
