Visiting President Ho Chi Minh's hometown today, it's easy to see the vibrant activities of labor, production, culture, arts, and sports competitions taking place to celebrate the 21st Party Congress of the commune, term 2020-2025. Along the roads, many new, spacious houses have been built, commercial services are bustling, and the streets are adorned with colorful flowers, creating a new look for the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.

During the past term, implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas, Kim Lien commune was selected as one of the model new rural communes in Nam Dan district.

This is an honor but also a challenge that requires high determination from the entire Party Committee and people of Kim Lien commune. In recent years, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government, and people of Kim Lien commune have achieved positive results on the path to building a model new rural commune.

Most notably, infrastructure, including electricity, roads, schools, health stations, irrigation systems, and cultural institutions, has been increasingly improved, creating a new look for the rural landscape and making it a shining example of new rural development in Nam Dan district. During the term, the Party Committee and the government focused on directing villages to upgrade rural and inter-field transportation routes.

During the past term, the entire commune upgraded 34.207 km of main village roads, built 2.5 km of new rural roads, and constructed 38.69 km of drainage ditches in residential areas.

Along with that, the commune has taken advantage of resources, the attention and assistance of all levels, sectors, and businesses, and maximized its internal resources to upgrade and build many important projects, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the commune: Upgrading and repairing some main roads in the commune such as: the Giang - Lien - Lam route, the route from the parking lot of President Ho Chi Minh's paternal hometown to Dat Pagoda and Provincial Road 542D; the route connecting the parking lot of President Ho Chi Minh's maternal hometown with National Highway 46, the route from National Highway 46 to Con Mong Cemetery, the route from Provincial Road 540 to the High School, and connecting roads in Sen 1 and Van Hoi hamlets.

Upgrading infrastructure in land use right auction planning areas; constructing new and upgrading Hoang Tru Kindergarten, Lang Sen Kindergarten, Hoang Tru Primary School, renovating Lang Sen Primary School, Kim Lien Secondary School, and upgrading and constructing several other projects in the commune. Constructing and upgrading projects in the commune such as: the cultural center, office building and headquarters grounds, the Martyrs' Memorial, the health station grounds, the Cau Market grounds; the traditional room of the Sen 1 hamlet cultural center, the "Cooperative with Uncle Ho" project sponsored by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance…

In the field of economic development, the commune directs agricultural development towards commodity production. It focuses on building production development models such as: the Bac Thinh rice production linkage model implemented by Kim Lien 2 Cooperative and Sen Que Bac Agricultural Cooperative, producing Lang Sen rice; the model of growing vegetables and flowers in greenhouses in Sen 1 and Lien Mau 3 hamlets; expanding the area of ​​lotus cultivation in ponds and lakes in Lien Hong, Mau Tai, Hoang Tru areas and along National Highway 46 and Provincial Highway 540. Initially, these models have yielded quite positive results.

Industrial and handicraft sectors have developed quite well in scale, especially the production of aluminum and glass products, wooden furniture, civil carpentry, garment making, and the production of vermicelli and cakes...

Services, trade, and tourism are developing rapidly, with increasingly better service quality. Some local products serving both residents and tourists have begun to take shape and prove effective, such as lotus-based products (lotus bud tea, lotus leaf tea) and cantaloupe. Coordination efforts are underway to develop new tourism models such as experiential tourism and homestays in Sen 2 hamlet; and the combination of flower cultivation with hands-on experiences and photography in Lien Mau 3 hamlet is receiving focused attention and guidance.

Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

The cultural and social life in Kim Lien commune has undergone many positive changes. In particular, the quality of education has received due attention and achieved encouraging results. The scale of the school system has been rationally planned. Resources have been mobilized and social contributions have been made to build and upgrade facilities and purchase equipment for teaching and learning. The overall quality of education, as well as the quality of specialized education, has improved significantly. To date, all 5 schools in the commune have met national standards.

During the past term, Kim Lien commune set a general direction of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the locality, such as cultural relics, revolutionary historical sites, traditional festivals, folk songs, etc. In particular, culture and revolutionary historical traditions are the focus to attract and develop tourism; tourism is used as a tool to preserve, promote, and educate about culture, revolutionary history, and political ideology.

Visitors to President Ho Chi Minh's birthplace always feel a sense of closeness and familiarity.

In addition, Kim Lien commune also develops local specialties and traditional products to serve tourism, thereby increasing production value and developing the economy of the people in the commune.

Kim Lien, the birthplace of Ho Chi Minh, is a land with a tradition of studiousness, humanity, and friendliness. To promote the traditions and heritage of the homeland, the leaders of Kim Lien commune have focused on encouraging people to preserve cultural identity while building a civilized, polite, friendly, and hospitable way of life. Therefore, for many years, visitors to President Ho Chi Minh's birthplace have always felt a sense of closeness and familiarity.

The "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement has been effectively implemented in conjunction with the movement to build model new rural areas in the commune. As a result, cultural and artistic activities continue to be promoted among all segments of the population. The development of cultural, information, and sports facilities has seen many positive changes.

The rate of families recognized as "cultured families" reached 89.5%; 100% of hamlets achieved the title of "cultured unit". Primary healthcare for the people has made significant progress. Social security policies and policies for those who have rendered meritorious services have been given timely attention. Poverty alleviation efforts have been prioritized; the number of poor households is now 25, accounting for 0.73% (a decrease of 94 households = 2.97%), and the number of near-poor households is 82, accounting for 2.4% (a decrease of 61 households = 2.4%) compared to the beginning of the term.

Furthermore, Party building work has received attention and care; the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party Committee have been enhanced, and leadership methods have been reformed. Internal unity and cohesion are high. The activities of the People's Council continue to be reformed, the People's Committee has made many efforts in directing, managing, and promoting effectiveness and efficiency in various management areas; the Fatherland Front and other mass organizations have increasingly affirmed their role and position in carrying out political tasks, with many vibrant and in-depth movements.
