The enlightenment of gratitude in a suburban commune
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Nghi An commune, Vinh city have done a good job of gratitude and repayment to compensate for the losses and sacrifices of policy families, while at the same time showing gratitude to previous generations and educating traditions for the younger generation.
During the nation's long resistance war, many outstanding sons of Nghi An commune followed the Party's call, enthusiastically enlisted in the army to fight, protect and build the Fatherland. Nghi An was also the place that witnessed the bloody battle between the US air force and the artillery and militia forces protecting Vinh airport during the destructive war.

The blood of the militia and self-defense force of Nghi An commune was shed on the anti-aircraft artillery position protecting Vinh airport. Many people still remember the image of Mr. Nguyen Van Song, a son of Kim My village, who sacrificed his life while carrying a crate of artillery shells on his back to support the artillery position, or many other young men from the poor Nghi An village who sacrificed their lives or were injured when they were in their twenties... According to statistics, Nghi An commune has 121 martyrs, 112 wounded soldiers, 410 people with meritorious services to the revolution, and 9 heroic Vietnamese mothers.
Comrade Chu Van Mai - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghi An commune said: The Party Committee, the government and socio-political organizations as well as the people of Nghi An are always aware that: Having a prosperous and happy life today is thanks to the great sacrifices of previous generations. That is why Nghi An commune always focuses on the work of gratitude and considers this an important political task that is done regularly and continuously anytime, anywhere.

In Nghi An, policies for people with revolutionary contributions have been implemented fully and promptly, without any errors or backlogs. On the occasion of the annual War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27, the commune has developed a plan and carried out many activities towards the anniversary such as rallies, lighting candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs; Organizing mass organizations to mobilize units and businesses to visit and give gifts to relatives of martyrs, wounded soldiers and people with revolutionary contributions with full affection. Especially in just a short time in mid-July, the kind-hearted people in the commune and those far from home sent to the Commune Fatherland Front Committee nearly 80 million VND to repair the memorial of the commune's heroic martyrs.
On the night of July 22, Nghi An commune held a grand ceremony to pray for the heroic martyrs. Meeting us in the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Secretary of Nghi An commune Youth Union Nguyen Van Vuong emotionally said: Today's young generation believes that the blood of heroic martyrs has colored the glorious red flag of the Fatherland.
