Emergency evacuation of nearly 40 households in Con Cuong
(Baonghean.vn) - The Lam River suddenly rose by a meter, causing many houses in the mountainous district of Con Cuong to be deeply flooded. In response to this situation, on the afternoon of August 17, the district urgently evacuated 35 households.

Due to the influence of storm No. 4, there was heavy rain in Con Cuong district, along with flood discharge at Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir causing the river water to rise, flooding many communes and towns; in some places the water was half as deep as the house.

All the small roads leading to Lam River were flooded. The rising Lam River caused many agricultural areas in the riverside areas to be flooded and completely lost.
Faced with the above situation, the leaders of Con Cuong district mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and people to quickly move belongings to higher positions and evacuate the elderly and children to safety.

Bong Khe commune was the most flooded area, so on the afternoon of August 17, 13 households in Vinh Hoan village had to evacuate to safety. More than 200 hectares of crops were flooded and at risk of being completely lost.
In particular, in hamlet 4, block 6, Con Cuong town, 35 households were isolated, water flooded into their houses and they had to be evacuated.

Currently, the water level of Lam River in Con Cuong district is still rising rapidly. Local authorities are assigning functional forces to be on duty 24/7 in key areas along Lam River to prevent unexpected situations.
