On July 30, 2018, the Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 5557/UBND.NN assigning the Department of Planning and Investment to advise on resolving the proposal of Quy Hop district on allocating counterpart funds to promptly complete the emergency evacuation project for natural disaster and landslide areas in Chau Thanh, Chau Tien, and Lien Hop communes.
These are communes located in areas at high risk of landslides. The emergency resettlement project was implemented in 2010 with a total cost of 31 billion VND in Lien Hop and Chau Tien communes. The project is divided into 2 phases, of which phase 1, leveling the ground, has been invested with over 17 billion VND; phase 2 has not yet been implemented. The capital to implement the project is supported by the central budget at 80%, and Nghe An's counterpart capital is 20%. While the central budget has been basically implemented, the province's counterpart capital is still facing difficulties, so after 8 years of implementation, the project is still unfinished. More than 50 households in the affected area still live in fear, especially during the rainy season.
