Recurrence of road occupation for trading right in front of Vinh market

Hong Son Street (in front of Vinh Market) is about 1km long from the intersection with Le Huan Street to the intersection with Ho Xuan Huong Street. If from morning to afternoon this is still a wide road with many cars and motorbikes passing by, then from about 5pm onwards, this road turns into a spontaneous market, stretching for kilometers, affecting traffic.

According to the reporter's observation, during the above period, specialized carts for street vendors began to flock to Hong Son Street to do business. It is worth mentioning that the vendors carelessly set up their carts, baskets, and trays right in the middle of the road, causing the road to be almost "erased". Bicycles and motorbikes weaved in and out, and cars were forced to find other routes and could not pass through here.

People living in this area said that the encroachment of Hong Son Street has been going on for many years but has not been resolved. Ms. Van, a resident here, was upset: “My house is on this street but every day I encounter traffic jams. Sometimes it takes tens of minutes to go from Vinh market to my house, and many days I have to go home early because I am afraid of the jostling and traffic jams…”.

According to the investigation, the violators were mainly small traders at Vinh market who, after the market hours, spilled out onto the sidewalk to continue selling. In addition, many people living in this area also took the opportunity to bring their goods out to sell. It is worth mentioning that, according to the reporter's observation, there were no functional forces from Hong Son ward present to handle or remind.

For example, on the afternoon of March 3, the situation of encroachment occurred again, however, only the Vinh Market Management Board was on duty, there were no forces from Hong Son ward.

The situation of Hong Son street being turned into a market not only causes traffic jams, affecting people's lives, but also spoils the city's urban beauty and pollutes the environment when every time the market is over, garbage spills onto the street, giving off a foul smell.

"We have assigned Hong Son Ward to coordinate with Vinh Market Management Board to handle the matter of traders occupying the area on Hong Son Street. To completely handle this area, many synchronous and persistent measures need to be implemented. In the immediate future, we will direct units to assign forces to be on duty regularly and strictly handle cases of intentional re-offending."
