Lunar New Year, Nghe An rice-growing district receives 40 million USD in remittances
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger, the amount of remittances sent back to their homeland by children of Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) working abroad reached about 40 million USD.

Yen Thanh is a locality with a tradition of goinglabor exportTherefore, the number of children working abroad is always at the top of the province, including many children working in European countries, with very good income, sending a significant amount of remittances back home every year, especially during the Lunar New Year.
Mr. Phan Minh Khue - Head of the General Statistics OfficeYen Thanh districtsaid: In 2021, the whole district had nearly 1,000 children working abroad, bringing the total number of children currently working abroad to nearly 17,000 people. Last year, although the Covid-19 epidemic occurred in many countries, Yen Thanh children abroad basically had stable income, with an estimated amount of remittances sent home of about 200 million USD. Of which, about 20% were sent home during Tet, equivalent to 40 million USD, a decrease of about 5 million USD compared to the previous year.
The localities with the largest number of children of overseas workers are Son Thanh, Vien Thanh, Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh. In recent years, there have been additional communes: Lang Thanh, Ma Thanh, Tien Thanh...
A typical example is Son Thanh commune, the locality that initiated the movement of sending children to work abroad. Currently, this locality has nearly 1,500 children working in European countries. Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune said that during the year, children in the commune sent a large amount of money.remittanceabout 10 million USD, equivalent to nearly 230 billion VND. Of which, on this traditional Tet holiday, local people received about 100 billion VND (4 million USD).

"During the year, mainly from remittances, local people built dozens of new-style houses, especially at the end of the year, people bought nearly 20 billion-dong cars. From remittances, people actively contributed to building an advanced new-style commune. However, children working abroad have faced more difficulties in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and many other factors, but with the spirit of solidarity and learning from each other's experiences, most of them have stable incomes," said Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau.
With their industrious and hard-working nature, Yen Thanh children working abroad always overcome difficulties, have stable incomes, and the amount of remittances sent back to their homeland is increasing. Therefore, the appearance of the rice-growing countryside is increasingly invested in by the people to be more spacious, and people's lives are improved./.
