Vinh City speeds up construction of drainage works to prevent flooding
(Baonghean.vn) - Vinh City is urgently implementing drainage projects to prevent flooding in the city in 2022.
In previous years, Vinh city has continuously experienced the situation offloodedon the roads every time it rains. To improve this situation, since 2021, the City People's Committee has allocated funds to renovate and upgrade a number of drainage systems in vulnerable areas.
After carefully studying the flooding situation of the whole city, Vinh City People's Committee has chosen to renovate some areas that are frequently heavily flooded first. Specifically, the city will renovate, upgrade and dredge the regulating lake of Pumping Station No. 3, Ben Thuy Ward, the anti-flooding culvert project north of Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, the connecting ditch from Quang Trung Street, along Dang Thai Than Street to Tran Hung Dao Street to Cua Nam Lake; build a drainage ditch on Vo Nguyen Hien Street, connecting Nguyen Gia Thieu Street with the drainage ditch on Nguyen Phong Sac Street (Hung Dung), the anti-flooding project for hamlets 1, 2, 3 and hamlets 13A, 13B, hamlets 14, hamlets 15, Nghi Kim Commune, etc.

The City People's Committee has also completed the renovation of the drainage system on the East side of Truong Chinh Street, connecting Ly Thuong Kiet Street to Vinh Railway Station Market and Phan Boi Chau Street; renovating the road surface and adding a collection well on ditch No. 2 from Nguyen Van Cu Street to the North of Nai Bridge...
After some key roads have been improved, the city is currently continuing to renovate Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Ngu Hai streets; completing some sewer systems in Nghi Kim commune...

However, what people want is for the construction units to speed up the progress, because the areas being renovated and upgraded are all roads with high density of vehicles and businesses. If the progress is delayed, it will affect business in particular and cause loss of urban beauty.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee said: In the past time, the city has focused resources on prioritizing flood treatment at local points by adding connecting ditches, adding flood-prevention wells and manholes, using traditional frog-shaped wells on streets without houses. At some bottleneck points, the canal system has also been dredged. In particular, the city has arranged and built new canals and culverts across the road to reduce the amount of water on roads with too long lengths such as Le Nin, Truong Thi, Nguyen Van Cu, or focused on handling weak points at Nai bridge...

In response to concerns that the construction would affect people's business and trading activities, Mr. Lam also said that the city has directed construction units to take advantage of favorable weather conditions to speed up progress. At the same time, he hopes that people on the roads will cooperate with the city to facilitate the renovation and upgrading of the drainage system.
