(Baonghean.vn) - Immediately after the test results of the Veterinary Department of Region III showed that the chicken sample of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong's household (Nghi An commune) was positive for H5N1, the People's Committee of the commune coordinated to destroy the family's total flock of 2,500 chickens.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong's chicken farm in Kim Nghia hamlet, Nghi An commune has just had 500 laying hens die simultaneously, showing signs of H5N1 flu. Nghi An commune People's Committee has reported to Vinh City Agricultural Service Center to send technical staff to inspect, collect samples and send them to Nghe An Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Region III Veterinary Department for testing.

The test result response form of the Veterinary Department of Region III stated that the chicken sample of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong's family was positive for H5N1. Nghi An Commune People's Committee coordinated to destroy the entire flock of 2,500 chickens of the family (including 900 laying hens and 1,600 1-month-old chickens, total weight 1,830 kg, causing damage of about 200 million VND). The entire poultry flock of the family has not been vaccinated against H5N1.

Currently, Nghi An commune has also coordinated to carry out disinfection steps according to regulations; announced the epidemic and put up signs in the epidemic areas in the commune. At the same time, broadcast urgent notices on the commune's loudspeaker system, directed hamlet chiefs to focus on information dissemination so that people can grasp information and proactively prevent and control the epidemic; instructed poultry farming households to spray disinfectants, sprinkle lime powder, and clean livestock barns.

In areas where the epidemic occurred, the Commune People's Committee organized the placement of warning signs in epidemic areas, sprinkled lime powder, and sprayed disinfectants in epidemic areas. The Commune Health Station also issued a notice to propagate the risk of avian influenza transmission to humans.

Mr. Chu Van Mai - Chairman of Nghi An Commune People's Committee said: In the commune, there are currently about 55 households raising livestock farms, with about more than 200,000 chickens and many small-scale households. It is worrying that currently, in addition to some farms that have proactively vaccinated against H5N1, there are still some that have not been vaccinated, the risk of disease infection is very high; and especially the possibility of spreading to neighboring areas of Nghi Duc, Nghi Lien, Nghi Kim, Nghi Phu and Hung Loc communes.

The commune is currently proposing that the Agricultural Service Center, the Economic Department, and the Vinh City People's Committee consider a mechanism to support the destruction and prevention of epidemics in the commune, support livestock households in getting vaccinated against H5N1, and support affected households./.
