Hoang Mai town has 4 wards with African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - Immediately after the outbreak, the authorities of Quynh Xuan ward (Hoang Mai town) set up 3 checkpoints to prevent African swine fever and at the same time deployed other epidemic prevention solutions.
On the evening of May 31, the Veterinary Department of Region III had test results positive for African swine fever. On the same day, the authorities destroyed 5 pigs belonging to Mr. Tran Duc Dinh's family in Block 13, Quynh Xuan Ward with a total weight of 180 kg.
Previously, Mr. Tran Duc Dinh's family discovered that the pigs in the pen were sick and stopped eating, so the family reported it to the local authorities. Upon receiving the information, veterinary officers from Hoang Mai town inspected and took samples from two sick pigs of Mr. Tran Duc Dinh's family.

Mr. Vu Van Tu - Chairman of Quynh Xuan Ward People's Committee said: This morning (June 1), the locality held a steering committee meeting and developed plans to prevent and control African swine fever.
The ward has contacted the Veterinary Department to request additional chemical support and proactively purchased about 1 ton of lime powder to disinfect and sterilize the outbreak household and livestock households in block 13.

The ward has established 3 epidemic prevention checkpoints and directed all police, militia, and veterinary forces to participate in the checkpoints, performing the task of controlling all types of vehicles entering and exiting the block and ward, and spraying disinfectants in the epidemic area.
Quynh Xuan Ward has a total herd of nearly 3,400 pigs, of which more than 1,500 are raised in 2 farms and 3 households; the rest are raised on a small scale by the people, from 1 to 3 pigs per household. In Block 13 alone - where the African swine fever outbreak occurred - there are nearly 100 pigs.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thuy - Head of the Economic Department of Hoang Mai town said: In addition to directing localities to improve their responsibility for disease prevention and control, the urgent task now is for the town to strengthen propaganda work to help all people grasp information about African swine fever, thereby making disease prevention and control work more convenient.
Up to this point, Hoang Mai town has recorded 4 outbreaks of African swine fever in 4 wards: Quynh Thien, Quynh Di, Mai Hung and Quynh Xuan.
