Midfielder Nguyen Quang Vinh: The whole team will try to win the Southeast Asian U19 Championship
Sharing before the training session of the Vietnam U19 team, midfielder Nguyen Quang Vinh expressed his happiness when Song Lam Nghe An Club successfully stayed in the league, and hopes that next season the whole team will play better.
On the afternoon of July 1, the Vietnam U19 team had its first official training session to prepare for the Southeast Asian U19 tournament. After the end of the 2023/2024 V-League, players playing for the first team of Song Lam Nghe An Club, such as midfielder Nguyen Quang Vinh, Le Dinh Long Vu; goalkeeper Cao Van Binh; defender Le Nguyen Hoang were present and trained with their teammates.
In an interview before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Quang Vinh expressed his joy when he and his teammates at Song Lam Nghe An Club successfully stayed in the league after a 2-0 victory over The Cong Viettel: ''We are very happy to have successfully stayed in the V-League. Hopefully next season the whole team will play better''.
Talking about the goal of the Vietnam U19 team, Quang Vinh said: ''In the immediate future, my teammates and I will try our best in training. The whole team will try to aim for the championship of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship. In my mind, Vietnamese football from youth level to the national team is always the top candidate for the championship in tournaments in the region. I believe the whole team will bring home the championship to please the fans''.
Evaluating the opponents in the same group, the midfielder from Nghe An said: ''The coaching staff will have thorough equipment for the players. In the group of U19 Vietnam, there is a highly rated opponent Australia. But anyway, we will still try our best to win and move on''.
Talking about competing for a position in the Vietnam U19 team, Quang Vinh affirmed: ''My position has many good quality friends. I just keep thinking about trying my best in training, meeting the requirements of the coaching staff, from there I can hope for a starting position''.
The Vietnam U19 team will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until July 16. The team will then leave for Indonesia to participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship with the official list shortened to 23 players.
The 2024 AFF U19 Championship will take place in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 17 to 29, 2024. Teams will compete in a round-robin format in each group to determine rankings. The top three teams in each group and the second-placed team with the best results in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The Vietnam U19 team is in Group B with the Laos, Myanmar and Australia U19 teams.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam U19 team will play its opening match against Myanmar U19 on July 18, then face Australia U19 on July 21 and Laos U19 on July 24./.
