Body of drowned young man found in Do Luong

At 7:00 a.m. on June 3, rescuers found the body of young man Nguyen Thanh Vinh (born 2003) who drowned at the foot of Mu Ba culvert, where water is regulated.Canallocated in Dong Son commune, Do Luong district.

The young man's body was found about 40 meters from the drowning site, on the left side downstream.

Earlier, since yesterday afternoon, the rescue team searched all night but still could not find the young man's body. After the Mu Ba sluice was closed, the water level on the Dao River dropped to 1.5m, and at 7am on June 3, the rescue team found the young man's body stuck on the rocky bank.

That same morning, the family of the young man who was injured completed the funeral procedures.

As reported, at around 1:00 p.m. on June 2, at Mu Ba sluice of Dao River in Dong Son commune, Do Luong district, a tragic drowning incident occurred.

At that time, young man Nguyen Thanh Vinh (born 2003), residing in hamlet 1, Lac Son commune - Do Luong, and a group of friends went swimming in Dao river. The bathing area was right at the foot of Mu Ba culvert.

Although he couldn't swim and wasn't wearing a life jacket, Vinh wanted to swim like the others, so he went into the water. Unfortunately, Vinh fell into the whirlpool, was drowned and swept away.

When Vinh and his friends went swimming, the power grid was out and it was hot, so there were quite a few people swimming here.

Mu Ba sluice is where agricultural and domestic water from Lam River is regulated for 3 districts: Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu. Mu Ba sluice is a common site for drowning incidents in the summer, although there are signs warning of dangerously deep water.
