Vinh City builds lotus fields for eco-tourism

This is a rice land but for decades it has been abandoned because it often faces pollution and flooding, causing great damage to the lives and economic development of the locality. Therefore, Vinh City has a plan to renovate this area tolotus plantingand develop ecosystems, both not wasting land resources and developing experiential tourism in line with trends.

In the immediate future, Nghi Kim commune will conduct trial planting.4 varieties of lotuson an area of ​​1 hectare including: Guanyin lotus, pink butterfly lotus, white butterfly lotus and four-season lotus.

After testing, the city will evaluate and select lotus varieties suitable for the soil and weather conditions to expand the planting area in the near future.

According to the reporter's records, the local government has mobilized machinery and human resources to improve the land and clean up the lotus growing area, and Nghi Kim commune will plant the first batch of lotus at the end of April 2021.

Mr. Hoang Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of Nghi Kim Commune People's Committee said: "In addition to lotus planting as the main highlight, the locality will also deploy other models in Bau Sau area (with an area of ​​about 29 hectares) including planting fruit trees, shade trees; improving aquaculture; raising poultry, waterfowl... to serve on-site tourists when visiting lotus fields in the future".

It is known that because this is an abandoned land without production for many years, in addition to renovating it to grow lotus and ecological spots, the city will also have a plan to upgrade and renovate it.infrastructuretraffic, drainage ditches... to facilitate tourists' visits.
