Arresting illegal sand dredging boats on Lam River
(Baonghean.vn) - Thanh Giang Commune Police (Thanh Chuong District) have just surrounded and arrested a boat that illegally dredged sand on Lam River.

Mr. Nguyen Van Manh - Head of Thanh Giang Commune Police said that this morning (January 1, 2019), the Commune People's Committee coordinated with Thanh Giang Commune Police to inspect the eroded production land area along the Lam River and discovered 7 boats dredging sand on the river section managed by the locality and outside the licensed area.
Faced with that situation, Thanh Giang Commune Police mobilized forces to surround and arrest the above boats. Accordingly, 1 boat was arrested and fined 3,000,000 VND.
People report recurrence of "sand bandits" on Lam River
(Baonghean.vn) - According to local residents, on October 16, many sand-dredging boats operated day and night on the Lam River through the communes of Thanh Long, Thanh Ha, Thanh Giang, and Thanh Lam (Thanh Chuong). Thanh Giang and Thanh Ha were the two communes most severely affected.
Lam River "swallows" alluvial land, people lose dozens of hectares of production land
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, people in Thanh Giang, Thanh Ha, and Thanh Yen communes, Thanh Chuong district, have to live in fear because the Lam River bank through these communes has been severely eroded, putting dozens of hectares of agricultural land and houses at risk of being "wiped out".
