Building Vinh University into a national key university

On the morning of June 1, Vinh University Party Committee held an extended mid-term Party Executive Committee Conference for the 2015-2020 term.

During the past half term, the Party Committee of Vinh University has focused on leading the training task. Notably, the school has implemented research and issued the Project on Building and Developing a Regular University Training Program Approaching CDIO for the period 2016-2020, applying training from course 58 with 3,037 students, 41 training majors, belonging to 7 major groups. In March 2018, Vinh University officially became a member of the International CDIO Association.

The Party Committee directed the development of a restructuring project for Vinh University in line with the orientation of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training; arranging the staff apparatus in the direction of streamlining units, reducing leadership and management staff, and saving human resources.

During the first half of the term, the school staff carried out 11 national-level projects, 42 ministerial-level projects, 4 provincial-level projects, and 311 school-level projects. The school's students carried out 126 projects, and 11 projects won the ministerial-level student scientific research award.

In particular, the Party Committee focuses on leading the personnel work. The school currently has 1,045 people, including 586 lecturers, 4 professors, 59 associate professors, 256 doctors, 504 masters, 241 bachelors and engineers.

International cooperation has been expanded. Facilities, equipment and finance have continued to develop. The material and spiritual life of cadres, party members, pupils and students has been stabilized. The position of the school in the Vietnamese higher education system has been affirmed.

Currently, according to the World University Rankings (CSIC) published on Webometrics, Vinh University is ranked 16th/129 universities in Vietnam, 148th/1,200 universities in Southeast Asia. In 2018, Vinh University became an associate member of the ASEAN University Quality Assurance Network and a member of the International CDIO Association.

Assessing the first half of the term, most of the targets set out in the Resolution were achieved, some of which were exceeded. Specifically, 6/31 targets were likely to be exceeded; 21/31 targets were expected to be achieved; 2/31 targets were focused on implementation.

Based on the mid-term results, the 31st Executive Committee of the Vinh University Party Committee, term 2015-2020 proposed to adjust a number of targets, set out tasks and solutions to achieve and exceed the targets of the Congress Resolution, and build Vinh University to develop sustainably, becoming a key national university.
