Handling 16 landslides on the road to Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district
The road leading to Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district is being urgently handled by local authorities due to a series of serious landslides to ensure people's safety during the upcoming flood season.
In fact, the road leading to Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, passing through 3 villages, namely Dua village, Minh Tien village and Cham Puong village, has continuously seen many large and small landslides due to the impact of prolonged rains from 2024 to present. The rock formations can suddenly fall down, blocking the road or overflowing the path, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents, making it very difficult for people to travel, especially at night or in bad weather.
Ms. Lo Thi Minh, a resident of Minh Thanh village, worriedly said: "This route has many landslides. Sometimes rocks from above suddenly roll down, making us feel very insecure every time we pass by, especially on days of heavy rain."
Faced with the complicated situation of landslides, the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district has proactively implemented a remedial plan. Mr. Vi Dinh Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Minh commune said: "We have reported to the district and coordinated with functional units to gradually handle each landslide point, prioritizing the most dangerous points first to ensure traffic for the people."
According to the representative of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district, since the beginning of May 2025, the local government has mobilized mechanical equipment to cut layers in high mountain areas and level rocks and soil at major landslides. Up to now, 15/16 landslides have been basically handled, with thousands of cubic meters of rocks and soil removed.
The remediation work has encountered many difficulties due to the large volume of landslides and the difficult terrain. However, the construction unit is working overtime to speed up the progress. It is expected that after July, the embankment will be reinforced with stone gabions to limit the risk of landslides again in the coming rainy season.
However, there are still some landslides along Khe Mat that cannot be handled in time due to the difficult terrain. This is a big challenge when the flood season is approaching, requiring the new government after the merger to continue to increase human resources, equipment and monitor the construction progress to ensure the safety of the people.
Landslide repair work on the road to Luong Minh commune is not only an urgent infrastructure task but also has great significance in ensuring social security, stabilizing the lives and production of hundreds of households in the highlands here.
