(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 21, in Vinh city, Nghe An Provincial Library organized a conference to review the North Central Library Association for the 2022-2024 term and a seminar on "Digital transformation in library activities - Current situation and solutions".
Attending the conference were comrades: Kieu Thuy Nga - Director of the Library Department (Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism); Nguyen Xuan Dung - Director of the National Library of Vietnam; representatives of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, Libraries of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri provinces, Hue General Library.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Tran Quoc Khanh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.

At the conference, delegates listened to a report summarizing the activities of the North Central Library Association for the 2022-2024 term and participated in the discussion "Digital transformation in library activities - Current situation and solutions".

On February 11, 2021, the Prime Minister approved the "Digital Transformation Program for the Library Sector to 2025, with a Vision to 2030". The general goal of the program is to strongly and comprehensively apply information technology, especially digital technology, to improve the operational capacity of libraries and form a modern library network; ensure service provision to meet users' needs; attract a large number of people to be interested in and use library services, contributing to improving people's knowledge and building a learning society.

At the Seminar, with practical experience in applying digital transformation in units, presentations from the National Library, the University of Culture and Libraries of the North Central provinces analyzed the requirements in digital transformation of library information activities; discussed issues that libraries need to pay attention to when transforming digitally.

The presentations also proposed new directions in the transformation from traditional libraries to electronic libraries/digital libraries, solutions for digital transformation in library activities that were strongly implemented, practical, effective, and in line with the general trend of the country and humanity.
The North Central Province Library Association was established in October 1992. It is a professional association established on a voluntary basis between provincial libraries and with the consent of the Department of Libraries, Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
Since its establishment, the Libraries in the Union have regularly exchanged sources of documents, books, newspapers, and local newspapers; focused on promoting the activities of the grassroots library system; and effectively implemented the National Target Program. Every year, they have actively contributed to the establishment of dozens of new commune and ward libraries, and village and hamlet reading rooms.
