Provincial Party Secretary: The Fatherland Front is a common home, gathering the solidarity of the entire nation

On the morning of June 29, in Vinh city, the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) of Nghe An province, term 2019 - 2024, held an official congress session to evaluate the results of implementing the action program of the VFF for the term 2014 - 2019, build goals and action programs of the provincial VFF for the term 2019 - 2024; at the same time, consult with members of the Provincial VFF Committee for the new term.

Attending the congress, on the Central side, there was comrade Hau A Lenh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

On the provincial leadership side, there were comrades Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors and more than 321 official delegates representing the great national unity bloc of the province.

The political report and the reports presented at the congress affirmed that in the 2014 - 2019 term, implementing the action program of the provincial Fatherland Front, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations from the province to the grassroots level continued to innovate the methods and contents of activities, promoting the role of gathering the great national unity bloc, competing in socio-economic development, consolidating national defense and security, participating in Party building, building a strong government; the people's mastery was increasingly promoted.

Notably, the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas"; the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; building the "Fund for the poor" and the program "Tet for the poor" have become unique cultural beauty of Nghe An, bringing Tet to all poor people and poor families in the whole province.

Through propaganda and mobilization of the Fatherland Front at all levels, up to now, people have voluntarily contributed 5,658 billion VND; voluntarily donated over8 million m² land; support 6.39 million working days to build new rural areas (NTM). As of the end of 2018, the whole province currently has 56 villages and hamlets and 218/431 communes, 3district-level units meeting NTM standards.

During the period 2014 - 2019, the "For the Poor" Fund mobilized more than 210 billion VND and the mobilization results for Tet For the Poor each year were higher than the previous year, from 26 billion VND in 2014 to more than 70 billion VND in 2019.

The monitoring and criticism activities according to Decision No. 217-QD/TW, dated December 12, 2013 of the Politburo were proactively implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations, and selected focused, key and practical contents; contributing to discovering and recommending Party committees and authorities at all levels to overcome limitations and shortcomings in organizing the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies and State management.

During the term, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee directed the Fatherland Front at all levels to preside over the implementation of dialogue activities between Party committees and grassroots authorities with people in 480 communes, wards and towns periodically twice a year; associated with post-dialogue supervision, contributing to removing obstacles and difficulties as well as relieving people's frustrations, limiting mass petitions and complaints, going beyond levels, promoting local socio-economic development.

Ethnic, religious and people's foreign affairs work, participation in Party building and government building by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations have been innovated, flexible, creative and brought about practical results.

Besides the positive results, the congress also frankly pointed out some shortcomings and limitations. That is, the method of mobilizing and gathering to build the great national unity bloc is sometimes limited in some places. Information, propaganda and grasping the situation of the people in some localities is sometimes not timely.

The campaigns and emulation movements of the Fatherland Front and its member organizations sometimes overlap, failing to make fundamental changes in the implementation of the province's socio-economic tasks, as well as improving people's lives. The organization and apparatus of the Fatherland Front in some localities are slow to be improved and innovated, and the operating mechanism still faces many difficulties.

The Congress also identified the goals and action program for the 2019-2024 term with the determination to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, promote the strength of the great national unity bloc; well perform the functions and tasks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, contributing to building a rich and civilized Nghe An.

The Fatherland Front must be a common home that brings together the solidarity of the entire nation.

Speaking at the congress, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh highly appreciated the role and contributions of the Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations as well as the spirit of solidarity, response, support and efforts of all classes of people in implementing the policies of the Party and State, contributing to the overall achievements of the province in recent times.

Affirming that solidarity is the strength of the entire nation and the foundation for development, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized the requirement that the Provincial Fatherland Front in the new term must lead and fulfill the task of building the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party.

The Fatherland Front must truly be a common home for all classes of people, all ethnicities, religions, all ages and Nghe An people to promote their patriotism, will and intelligence to build and protect their homeland and country.

At the same time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations need to continue to play a core role in mobilizing and organizing the widespread and effective implementation of patriotic emulation campaigns and movements based on closely following the socio-economic development goals, the tasks of ensuring national defense, security, social security; hunger eradication, poverty reduction, Party building and the political system as set out in the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels.

The Fatherland Front and its member organizations at all levels need to enhance their responsibility and effectiveness in monitoring and social criticism; act as a bridge between Party committees, authorities and the people. Comprehensively innovate activities based on the functions and tasks of the Fatherland Front.

To effectively carry out the above requirements and tasks, the Provincial Fatherland Front needs to continue to innovate the content and methods of practical activities, close to the people, strengthen dialogue, focus on the grassroots and residential areas; associated with taking care of building a team of Front cadres with qualities, capacity, experience in mobilizing the masses and practical experience; widely gather a team of scientists, experts, and prestigious people to effectively carry out the common tasks.
