The project to build the North-South Expressway in the East, the Nghi Son - Dien Chau section, 50km long, passes through Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. This is a project converted from PPP (public-private) investment to public investment. The project has 4 bidding packages, of which package XL011 includes the construction of an important item: Truong Vinh tunnel through Mong Ga mountain in Hoang Mai town. To construct the tunnel, the construction units built a road through the mountain for convenient travel. Photo: Tran Chau |

Truong Vinh Tunnel is being constructed through Mong Ga Mountain in Truong Lam Commune (Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa) and Quynh Vinh (Hoang Mai Town, Nghe An). According to geological survey results, there are more than 300m of rock, the rest are sedimentary layers mixed with soil and rock. Photo: Tien Dong |

According to information from the construction units, Truong Vinh tunnel was constructed using Austrian NATM technology. This method demonstrates great resistance to geological pressures in areas prone to earthquakes. In fact, this is an excellent construction method chosen to build a large number of tunnels around the world. After blasting, machines are brought in to drill the rock. Photo: Tran Chau |

With new technology, Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company excavated the tunnel using the drilling and blasting method, supported by anchors combined with sprayed concrete. The tunnel roof was anchored with rocks to keep the rock and soil blocks in the tunnel from being affected during excavation. Photo: Tran Chau |
