(Baonghean.vn) - After 1 month of dealing with the subsidence incident caused by heavy rain and floods, on the morning of January 7, 2019, the Post Office Bridge at the intersection of Phung Chi Kien and Le Viet Thuat streets (Vinh City) was opened to two-way traffic, ensuring convenient traffic for city residents.

The post office bridge was seriously damaged at the eastern approach road after the rain lasted from the night of December 7, 2018 to December 8, 2018 in Vinh City. After the incident, the Vinh City People's Committee directed relevant units to urgently fix it.

Post Office Bridge is a high traffic point in Vinh City. After the incident, traffic congestion on the bypass roads often occurs, causing difficulties for people when participating in traffic here. The authorities often have to be on duty to direct traffic on Phung Chi Kien Street when Le Viet Thuat Street prohibits cars from traveling to handle the incident.

After the repair period, the Post Office Bridge was opened to traffic on 1/28/2018; on 1/7/2019, the repair work was completed.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang - Head of Vinh Urban Management Department said: "The construction to fix the subsidence at the Post Office Bridge encountered some obstacles due to the large amount of rocks under the bridge pier, leading to difficulties in driving piles to thoroughly handle the subsidence situation; the construction units had to clear the rocks, so the completion progress was slower than expected. However, with the efforts of the construction units, opening the bridge before Tet will help the city's people travel smoothly to celebrate Tet."
