(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 1, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the situation, urged and directed to overcome the landslide and flooding situation in Hung Nguyen district.

Accompanying were comrades: Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Nguyen Van De - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Provincial Police, and Office of the Provincial Search and Rescue Command.

Due to the impact of storm No. 4, from September 28 to 29, Hung Nguyen district experienced heavy to very heavy rain, causing localized flooding and damage to some production areas.

As of 10:00 a.m. on October 1, 3,081 households in 38 hamlets of the communes and towns of Hung Yen Bac, Hung Trung, Hung Dao, Hung Yen Nam, Chau Nhan, Long Xa, Hung Linh, Hung Loi, Xuan Lam, and Hung Nguyen town were flooded. Some hamlets in the communes of Xuan Lam, Long Xa, Chau Nhan, and Hung Dao were flooded more than 1 meter deep.

Heavy rain and rising water levels also caused a 7m-long break in the low canal dyke in hamlet 5, Hung Dao commune. In the communes of Hung Yen Nam, Xuan Lam, and Hung Thanh, there were many landslides on the mountains. Heavy rain also flooded more than 120 hectares of rice, vegetables, corn, fruit trees, and more than 170 hectares of fish farms; more than 2,400 pigs, chickens, and ducks died.

Chau Nhan commune leaders reported that up to now, there are still 1,100 households, about 4,500 people in the commune that are isolated. The whole commune has 200 households with water entering their houses, of which, 70 households in Phu Xuan hamlet, hamlet 7, hamlet 4 are flooded from 1-1.5m deep.

Giving gifts to 4 households in difficult circumstances, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee kindly asked about their lives, shared the difficulties and hardships that people are facing; at the same time, hoped that people would stay calm, regularly monitor the developments of floods and rains to proactively respond, ensuring the lives and property of their families.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also inspected the flooding situation in Hung Linh Commune, Hung Nguyen District. The leader of Hung Nguyen District reported that in Hamlet 2, Hung Linh Commune, the river embankment was eroded with a length of about 150m, and the rescue road has not been upgraded. Currently, the embankment and road are flooded, cutting off the entire population of the hamlet outside the dike.

Next, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung also inspected the landslide situation on Tho Lo mountain in Hung Thanh commune, Hung Nguyen district. Due to the impact of heavy rain, a large crack with a length of 120m and a landslide depth of 0.7m to 1m appeared on the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, there are about 12 households with 55 people affected, of which 8 households are at high risk and need to be evacuated.

At the inspection sites, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung requested the leaders of Hung Nguyen district, the communes of Chau Nhan, Hung Linh, Hung Thanh and the forces to promptly, synchronously and effectively deploy measures to ensure maximum safety for people's lives and property, and minimize damage to State property.

On the other hand, it is necessary to promptly organize emergency relief of food and necessities for households at risk of hunger, especially households in deeply flooded and isolated areas, ensuring that people do not go hungry. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to vulnerable groups, the elderly, the lonely, the disabled, and children.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested Hung Nguyen district and communes to continue to review and proactively evacuate people in dangerous areas, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding; build a monitoring and warning system so that when situations occur, they can respond promptly. After the water recedes, mobilize forces to support people in repairing and rebuilding houses, cleaning up the environment, and preventing disease outbreaks after floods.

In addition, after the flood recedes, essential infrastructure works must be quickly repaired and restored; production must be quickly restored immediately after the flood, contributing to stabilizing people's lives.

Proactively deploy forces to control and guide traffic safety at spillways, deeply flooded areas during heavy rains and floods, or move into flooded areas, downstream of lakes, dams, and areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides, to prevent further unfortunate human losses.

Regarding the landslides in Hung Linh and Hung Thanh communes, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung shared the concerns of the people in the past time and requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with Hung Nguyen district and related departments and branches to pay attention and promptly advise competent authorities to resolve the legitimate needs of the people and localities./.
