Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung visited and presented Tet gifts in Ky Son district
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 29, on the occasion of preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the provincial working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited, presented gifts, and wished a happy New Year to localities, units, and people in Ky Son district.
The delegation included: Colonel Bui Quang Thanh - Director of the Provincial Police; Dang Thanh Tung - Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the leaders: Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command, Provincial Ethnic Committee, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Ky Son district.

In Nam Can commune, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung extended New Year greetings to the following units: District Military Command, District Police; Na Ngoi Border Guard Station, Nam Can Border Guard Station; Commune Police, Commune Military Command, Standing Militia Squad of Nam Can and Na Ngoi communes.
Briefly reporting on the socio-economic situation, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Can Commune, Lau Ba Xeng, said that the commune has a border of over 23km, adjacent to Muong Ngat village, Muong Moc district, Xieng Khouang province (Laos).

In recent years, the local Party Committee and government have focused on implementing socio-economic development tasks and improving people's lives. Currently, the whole commune has 488 households, 2,569 people, of which the poverty rate is 38.9%, the near-poor rate is over 47%. The current average income per capita is 15.6 million VND/year.
People's lives are increasingly improved, the situation of slash-and-burn farming is gradually being eliminated by raising livestock. Many people in the commune have gone to work abroad and become workers in many provinces and cities. The commune has achieved 9/19 new rural criteria. Cultural and sports activities are given attention; social security policies are guaranteed.

The national defense and security situation is basically stable, firmly ensuring the national border. Foreign affairs activities have been strengthened, deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides of the Vietnam - Laos border. In 2023, the commune has built 25 houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties with the help and support of the Ministry of Public Security.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also presented 100 gifts to poor households in Nam Can commune; presented Tet gifts to Mr. Lau Va Tu (71 years old, Mong ethnic), residing in Nam Khien 2 village, Nam Can commune. Mr. Tu is a prestigious person in the ethnic minority community.


Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung shared the difficulties of the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Can commune, but in the past time, the commune has made efforts to carry out the task of socio-economic development and stabilizing the area.
Attention was paid to the cultural and social fields; the work of building the Party and the political system was well implemented. In particular, the work of ensuring national defense and security, maintaining border security and social order and safety; attention was paid to foreign affairs, which contributed to building a united and friendly border.

Despite the difficult conditions, the commune has paid attention to taking care of and ensuring Tet for the people, the security and order situation has been maintained, the forces have stayed close to the people, the villages, and the locality to effectively build the national defense, associated with the people's security posture, the people's border defense posture, and maintained stability in the border area. Nam Can is the first commune to implement the model of a clean border commune in terms of drugs.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the results that the Party Committee, government, people of Nam Can commune, armed forces of Nam Can commune and Na Ngoi commune have achieved in the past time.

Emphasizing that taking care of and ensuring that all people have a peaceful, warm, safe and healthy Tet holiday is the responsibility of Party committees, authorities at all levels and sectors, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that in the past time, social security work for people, especially those in difficult circumstances, policy families and the disadvantaged, has been well implemented by all levels and sectors.
In particular, the program to mobilize support for building and repairing houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties in 2023 achieved 7,517 houses. Of which, Ky Son district was interested in 1,817 houses, Nam Can commune alone received 41 houses, helping poor and disadvantaged households have solid houses.


In addition, social security activities and care for the poor have received attention. Over the past 11 years, the province has organized the Tet For the Poor program, so that everyone can have a warm and fulfilling Tet, leaving no one behind. In 2024 alone, the province mobilized nearly 141 billion VND, demonstrating the traditional morality of Vietnamese people in general and Nghe An people in particular: Love others as you love yourself, mutual love, in accordance with the spirit of the whole leaf covering the torn leaf, the less torn leaf covering the more torn leaf.
Emphasizing that Ky Son district in general and Nam Can commune in particular still have a high rate of poor households, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung also hopes that Ky Son district and Nam Can commune will continue to unite, make efforts and strive to carry out the task of socio-economic development, especially the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, gradually improve people's lives, and gradually reduce the rate of poor households in a sustainable manner.
