Ensuring uninterrupted traffic on National Highway 1A through Quynh Luu district
(Baonghean.vn) - As of the afternoon of September 26, many sections of National Highway 1A and 48B passing through Quynh Luu district were still deeply flooded. Traffic police and local forces were present on flooded roads to regulate traffic and help people travel safely.

Recorded on lineNational Highway 1AThe section passing through Block 5, Cau Giat Town (Quynh Luu) this afternoon was still flooded 30-40 cm deep. Vehicles passing through this area encountered many difficulties; many vehicles stalled due to water entering the exhaust pipes.
To ensure no traffic jams when passing through flooded areas, the Provincial Traffic Police Department coordinated with the Quynh Luu District Traffic Police Team to deploy forces in flooded areas to direct and regulate traffic.

On National Highway 48B, through the communes of Quynh My and Quynh Hong, the water has not yet receded and is being...floodsTo ensure people can move safely through the flooded area, forces in Quynh My commune used trailers and trucks with people on board to move through the flooded area.
Previously, in 2 days (September 24 and 25), due to the influence of the tropical low pressure trough, heavy rain occurred in Quynh Luu district, with an average rainfall of 370mm, causing much damage to production and people's lives.Statistics as of the morning of September 26 showed that the total number of households whose houses were flooded was 3,387, of which Quynh Lam commune was the most severely affected with 1,700 households; Quynh Giang 170 households; Quynh Hoa 114 households; Quynh Thanh 70 households; Quynh Hong 67 households; Cau Giat town 50 households... Among the households whose houses were flooded, 266 households were isolated and had to be evacuated.

Heavy rains also caused damage to production and constructions, of which about 62.6 hectares of rice in the communes of Quynh Chau, Quynh Hoa, Tan Thang, Tan Son; 957 hectares of vegetables were flooded in the communes of Quynh Yen, Quynh My, Quynh Tan, Ngoc Son...; In addition, heavy rains flooded 222 hectares of fish ponds and small lakes; 80 hectares of shrimp; 6,016 poultry were submerged; many livestock died; More than 593m of surrounding walls collapsed and 90/101 lakes and dams overflowed.
According to the assessment of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue of Quynh Luu district, there are 3 main reasons leading to the local flooding. Firstly, it is due to heavy rain in the past few days, water from upstream flows in. Secondly, the high tide has been rising for the past 4 days, so water from upstream cannot drain out. Thirdly, due to the weakness of some dike works, ponds and lakes, it leads to local flooding.

To proactively respond to flooding, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Quynh Luu district directed sectors and localities to focus on reviewing and having plans to evacuate households in areas at risk of flooding. At the same time, arrange forces to monitor the situation, developments and proactively have plans and means to promptly respond when necessary, ensuring the safety of people and property, and there must be warning signs for unsafe areas.
Quynh Luu District also directed the Irrigation Enterprise to focus on operating works to drain water quickly, avoiding flooding in residential areas and on traffic routes. Localities are requested to check and support food and food difficulties for households affected by floods...
