Investing 2,600 billion VND to upgrade Vinh International Airport

Specifically, Vinh International Airport is currently implementing a project to upgrade the old domestic passenger terminal into an international passenger terminal and is preparing to implement a number of key projects such as:

The project to build the T2 passenger terminal, with a designed capacity of 5 million passengers/year, has an estimated total investment of about 1,600 billion VND. The project to build an aircraft parking lot with a designed capacity of 10 parking positions E, has a total investment of about 1,000 billion VND. These projects are expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2019 and be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Vinh International Airport currently has 7 routes, with approximately 34 flights arriving and departing each day. In 2017, the number of passengers passing through this airport reached 1.8 million; in the first 9 months of 2018, it is expected to reach 1.44 million.

On August 2, a working delegation of Vietnam Airports Corporation - CCTP (ACV) worked with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the Vinh International Airport Development Investment Project.

At this meeting, ACV affirmed the necessity of expanding the planning, renovating and upgrading some items of Vinh International Airport because it is currently overloaded; therefore, it requested the province to coordinate in completing the site clearance and handing over land to implement the projects.
