HOME WASTE TREATMENT
Hoa Son is also one of the communes that has successfully implemented the "Clean from home to field" movement in Anh Son district. Currently, in terms of environmental criteria, Hoa Son commune has 95% of households using hygienic water; the number of households with toilets that meet prescribed standards, with drainage systems that ensure hygiene, do not pollute the air and water sources reaches 100%.
Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of Hoa Son Commune People's Committee said: Determining the environmental criteria that local waste must be treated according to regulations is one of the difficult tasks to implement, Hoa Son Commune has its own direction different from the communes reaching the NTM finish line in Anh Son District. That is to implement the policy that each family and residential area must build a garbage pit for collection, gathering and treatment. Accordingly, the commune has also built a design model of a garbage pit with a size and budget suitable for each household.
To build a garbage pit, each household only needs to spend over 500,000 VND to buy materials such as sand, gravel, cement, steel, etc. The garbage pit is about 1 meter high, the compartment is 1 meter wide; there is an iron frame to hold the garbage, and a roof to keep out the rain...
After burning, households use the ash to compost for agricultural production. Up to now, 12/12 villages in the commune have implemented the policy of building garbage pits at home, with 85% of households using them, each village has 10-12 pits built as samples for people to see.
