Provincial working delegation inspects election preparations in Thai Hoa town

CAREFUL AND SYSTEMATIC PREPARATION

Before working with the Thai Hoa town People's Committee, comrade Cao Thi Hien and the working delegation directly inspected the election preparation work at the polling stations and People's Committee headquarters of the wards: Hoa Hieu, Quang Tien, Long Son and Tay Hieu commune.

Speaking directly with the polling teams, Comrade Cao Thi Hien highly appreciated the local preparations and reminded the polling teams to fully prepare scenarios to respond to possible situations; arrange and set up tables and ballot boxes according to instructions to ensure the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.

According to the report of the Thai Hoa Town Election Committee, in implementing the steps of the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, by May 3, 2021, the town had completed the posting of the official list and brief biographies of candidates for the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term at 64 polling stations in the area.

After the 3rd Consultative Conference, the Town Fatherland Front Committee agreed to establish an official list of 51 candidates to elect 30 Town People's Council delegates and 355 candidates to elect 212 Commune and Ward People's Council delegates. Of which, the percentage of candidates for Town People's Council delegates who are ethnic minorities accounts for 3.92%; candidates for Commune and Ward People's Council delegates who are ethnic minorities accounts for 12.68%.

The Election Committee of Thai Hoa town and the wards and communes have reviewed and prepared materials and documents for the election such as seals, ballot boxes, voter cards, ballots, etc. In addition, the town has also promoted information and propaganda work to help people understand their rights and obligations and participate in the election at the highest rate.

The town has also developed plans and scenarios to ensure security and order, especially to ensure the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. Instructions have been given to communes and wards, especially to set up election teams to conduct voting for citizens subject to centralized quarantine and home quarantine to ensure citizens' rights. Voter contact, election campaigning, election training and handling of complaints and denunciations related to the election have been carried out seriously.

BUILDING SCENARIOS TO ENSURE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF COVID-19

Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh - Secretary of Thai Hoa Town Party Committee affirmed that the Town Election Committee has prepared a plan to spray disinfectant at polling stations, and regularly review and require citizens returning from other localities to make medical declarations to ensure effective prevention and control of Covid-19.

In addition, the town will also regularly review and update the voter list, especially for students returning home after summer vacation. The town will also strengthen security and order work, and disseminate information to organizations and units about personnel work...

Speaking at the inspection session, comrade Ho Le Ngoc - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee highly appreciated the direction of the Steering Committee and the Election Committee of Thai Hoa town; at the same time, he noted that the compilation of the voter list would be very difficult, so the Town Steering Committee needed to strengthen inspection and encourage the grassroots, because this is an important factor affecting the election results.

In addition, the Steering Committee and the Town Election Committee need to widely disseminate and orient information to voters, in order to help voters wisely choose representatives with sufficient talent, virtue, and responsibility to participate in elected bodies; ensure security and order, and avoid subjectivity.

Considering that there is not much time left until the election day, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council noted that the Steering Committee, the Election Committee of Thai Hoa town and communes and wards need to continue to review and correct errors in the compilation of voter lists; and to properly manage students and people returning from other regions. This requires close coordination between the election team and block and hamlet officials and the inspection, supervision and guidance of the leaders of the town Election Committee.

To ensure the rights of candidates, help voters and people grasp the candidates' biographies and action programs, the town needs to strengthen propaganda work, continue to review facilities and materials at polling stations; strictly manage ballots, organize election training so that members of the election team know their lessons and handle arising situations well.

The town’s Election Commission also needs to direct election teams to ensure security and order, prevent bad situations from happening; organize and guide people on how to vote and when to vote to ensure good prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, contributing to the success of the election./.
