Two classmates who won the top prize in Math and Physics at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and Vinh University.

They are Nguyen Dang Quang - Valedictorian of the 10th grade Math class, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and Tran Linh Dan - Valedictorian of the 10th grade Physics class, Vinh University High School for the Gifted.

Won valedictorian with a score of 15.5/20

Nguyen Dang Quang is called “Master” by his classmates because he has always had short, crew cut hair since he was a child. Due to his excellent academic performance and gentle, humorous nature, “Master” is always loved by his classmates.

In the 10th grade entrance exam for specialized Math,Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, "Grandmaster" Nguyen Dang Quang achieved valedictorian with a score of 15.5/20. Dang Quang said: "The Math test had 5 very difficult questions, the time limit was 150 minutes, I was able to solve 3/5 questions, which were question 1 about equations and systems of equations, question 2 about arithmetic, question 4 about geometry. The remaining two questions that I could not solve were question 3 about inequalities and question 5 about combinations".

From grade 1 to grade 9, Nguyen Dang Quang's academic achievements were very impressive. In grade 1, studying at Van Son Primary School, he always achieved the title of excellent student. In grade 4, he achieved excellent results in the district-level English exchange competition, in grade 5, he won first prize in the district-level excellent student exchange competition, and second prize in the entrance exam to Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School. From grade 6 to grade 9, Quang achieved excellent all-round student, in grade 9, he won first prize in Math for excellent students in the district, and second prize in excellent students in the province.

Nguyen Dang Quang has loved Math since he was a child. This is quite interesting because both his parents are secondary school literature teachers. However, he lived with his grandfather, who was a secondary school math teacher, so he taught him from a young age and his passion for math started from there.

Nguyen Dang Quang shared: “To study well in Math, I do all the exercises given by my teachers. Read more reference books, solve exercises in magazines such as Math for Children and Math for Youth. At the same time, I refer to knowledge in Math magazines.”

Besides loving Math, Nguyen Dang Quang also loves Physics. He likes reading the story Kaleidoscope by author Nguyen Nhat Anh. Outside of school, Quang plays and loves all sports, especially soccer and table tennis.

Linh Dan - the girl passionate about many subjects

Studying in class 9B with Nguyen Dang Quang is Tran Linh Dan, taking the entrance exam for the Physics specialized class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Tran Linh Dan scored 15.25/20 points. Taking the entrance exam for the Physics specialized class at Vinh University High School for the Gifted, she scored 20/20 points, winning the title of Valedictorian. Tran Linh Dan said: "The exam has 5 questions, the time limit is 150 minutes, but I finished 15 minutes early after reviewing the test."

Teacher Nguyen Huy Hoang, Physics teacher at Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School commented on Tran Linh Dan: “Linh Dan is very passionate about Physics, she has a reasonable and scientific learning method, always seeks new knowledge and is creative in her learning. When studying, she always concentrates to grasp all the knowledge she needs to grasp, not faltering before difficult exercises. In training, she is always exemplary and close to everyone”.

Linh Dan's achievements are truly admirable. In grade 1, Linh Dan studied at the town's primary school and was an excellent student for 5 years. In grade 5, she was an excellent student of the district. In grade 2, she passed the entrance exam to Ly Nhat Quang secondary school. In grade 6, she was an excellent student of English at the school level. In grade 7, she was an excellent student of Physics at the district level. In grade 8, Linh Dan tried her hand at Literature and was an excellent student of the district. In grade 9, she returned to the Physics team, competed at the provincial level and won third prize.

Linh Dan said: “I love many subjects, especially Physics. To study well, I always focus on listening to the teacher and doing many exercises, learning more from my friends. In 8th grade, I had a classmate sitting next to me to give me extra lessons, so I improved a lot. At home, I did all the exercises given by the teacher and did more advanced exercises in the book “Victory in Physics”. I found more Physics problems online to do.”

Talking about Linh Dan, her classmate Dau Le Bao Chi said: “Although Linh Dan joined the Physics team later than her friends, she has tried hard to excel. With her friends, Linh Dan is enthusiastic and helpful in studying. In addition to Physics, Linh Dan is also quite good at 3 subjects: Math, Literature, and English”./.
