Two classmates in Uncle Ho's hometown achieved valedictorian and salutatorian positions in the province.
(Baonghean.vn) - After 4 years of waiting, good news has come to Kim Lien High School (Nam Dan district) when this year, the school has 2 students from class 12A1 on the list of Valedictorians and Salutatorians of the province, they are Phan Thi Thu Thuy (Valedictorian of block A1) and Tran Anh Duc (Salutatorian of Natural Sciences block).
Nurture the dream of becoming a doctor
Tran Anh Duc received the news that he was the province's second-best student in the Natural Sciences group with 54.85 points and ranked 28th in the list of candidates with the highest scores in the B group nationwide with a bit of regret. Because of the 3 subjects for university admission, Duc regretted the most in Chemistry when he only got 9.75 points, when in the last question, just because he misread 1 piece of data in the question, he got the wrong answer. In the remaining 2 subjects, Biology, Duc got 10 points and Math, he got 9.2 points. With this score, Duc's path to Hanoi Medical University seemed to be wide open.

With this year's graduation exam results, not only Duc, but also his homeroom teacher had hoped that Duc would get a perfect score in Chemistry. Because, in the 3 years of directly teaching Duc in class, this male student always topped the score in Chemistry. In the high school graduation mock exams at school, in addition to getting a perfect score in Chemistry, Duc was the top student in the whole grade many times.
Kim Lien High School is not a school with high entrance scores. The students of the same age as Duc have a score of less than 5 points/subject. Because the quality is always low, it is very difficult to set a goal of students getting into the top universities.
Even Duc admitted that at first he was not confident in his own abilities because his academic performance was quite modest during his junior high school years. But because of his dream of becoming a student at Hanoi Medical University and a future doctor, Duc had to try. Day by day, with his own perseverance, combined with the care and dedication of his teachers, Duc made remarkable progress. In grade 12, Duc participated in the provincial excellent student competition and won third prize in Chemistry.

Sharing her study tips, the second-place winner of the province's Natural Science program said: I don't think studying more will be good. I mainly study at school and with my teachers. In addition, I can refer to more topics and lectures online. During the review process, I should practice regularly to improve my skills and experience in doing tests.
The top student of block A1 likes to study natural subjects.
Receiving the results of being the top scorer in block A1 in the province with 28.95 points (9.6 points in Foreign Language, 9.75 points in Physics and 9.6 points in Mathematics), holding the 11th position in the country, student Phan Thi Thanh Thuy shared: "After finishing the exam, comparing the answers from the Ministry, I was able to grade my own score. Today, the results are the same as the official exam scores, but I did not expect to be the top scorer in the province", Thuy added.
Thuy started studying block A1 since grade 10. Her initial advantage was Math, but instead of following the traditional block A, the female student chose the combination of Math - Physics - English. Sharing about this decision, Thuy said: "I want to improve my English ability not only for the purpose of graduation exams and university admission, but also to help me in my future studies and work. With that goal, I focus on 3 subjects in the block, in addition, still ensuring knowledge of the remaining subjects in the curriculum".

In addition to studying at school, Thuy also chose to register for online courses that she felt were suitable. By grade 12, she had a fairly solid foundation in English. Besides, Math is her strength, so she was not too worried. During the final preparation time for the graduation exam, she mainly focused on "plowing" Physics - a subject that she felt she needed to try harder to achieve a high score for university admission.
Before that, to motivate herself, she participated in the provincial math competition but only won the Encouragement Prize. The result was not as expected, which made her sad for a while, but then she became more determined for the high school graduation exam. The female student shared that she participated in the capacity assessment exam and applied to the National Economics University, but her main goal was still to get the graduation score to apply for university.
Talking about her learning process, Thuy shared that she is quite “spontaneous” and does not have a fixed schedule. Usually, outside of class time, when she gets home, if she is inspired and follows the flow of a subject, she only focuses on doing exercises and solving problems of that subject. There are days when she stays up until 11pm-12am to study, but there are also times when she goes to bed early and wakes up at 2-3am to study. The most important thing is to determine your goals, create inspiration, joy, and love for studying.

Thuy has now registered for admission to the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Foreign Trade University. Before her, her two older sisters also graduated from Hanoi Law University and the Academy of Finance, although both of their parents are farmers and freelancers. Mr. Phan Trong Hai - Thuy's father added: We are determined that, despite the difficulties, we must give our children a full education, to become qualified and knowledgeable people so that they can boldly and confidently enter life.
Teaching ethics and humanity before teaching literacy
Class 12A1 has 44 students and is the class with the best achievements of Kim Lien High School inhigh school graduation exam2023 school year. In addition to Duc and Thuy, according to the summary, the class currently has 10 students who scored 26 points or higher. There are quite a few students with scores of 9 or higher. At the provincial excellent student exam for grade 12, the class had more than 10 students who achieved provincial excellent students in all subjects.
As the homeroom teacher of class 12A1, considered the school's selective class, teacher Nguyen Thi Sao said that the "pressure" of quality always weighs heavily on her and her students. Therefore, not only the homeroom teacher, but also the subject teachers always try to be dedicated to their students, passionate about their profession and love their job: Students in our district school mainly learn from their teachers at school. Therefore, we devote all our enthusiasm to them. The teachers themselves must always try, improve their expertise, and regularly self-study to improve their qualifications.

Talking about her students, teacher Nguyen Thi Sao can also clearly describe each student's personality, strengths and weaknesses. To achieve today's results, it is a tireless journey, including both joy and anxiety of adolescence. In behavior, she also guides students to be polite, obedient, learn ethics, learn to be human before learning letters and knowledge.
With 2 students achieving the top and second place in the provincial exam, joy has also come to the collective of Kim Lien High School. The school in Uncle Ho's hometown has truly overcome difficulties to have a successful school year.
