Since Vinh City established 13 blockades at the gateways, the circulation of goods has been tightened. Except for essential goods, which are allowed to enter the city when all conditions are met, the remaining goods must stay outside the checkpoints to be transported into the city. Faced with the large volume of goods in circulation, Vinh City has set up a number of additional checkpoints to facilitate people to transport goods in and out, maintain business and trade, and stabilize income during the epidemic season. At the checkpoints, there are always forces on duty to check goods as well as remind people to strictly implement epidemic prevention measures when transporting goods. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, a porter in Hong Son ward, said: Since the city set up checkpoints, many traders in the markets have contacted me to go to the checkpoints to pick up goods for them. Each trip is paid from 50,000 to 100,000 VND depending on the distance traveled... Photo: Quang An

It is known that many freelance workers, porters, motorbike taxi drivers... also often gather at checkpoints to wait for people to hire them for transportation. Because many markets and businesses are closed to prevent the epidemic, this service is considered their only source of income during the epidemic season. Photo: Quang An

Mr. Bien, a porter in Vinh City, said: I was hired to transport a batch of bicycles to the checkpoint for 150,000 VND/trip. The distance is long, combined with the intense heat, so the transportation is extremely difficult. However, I have to try my best because earning money during the epidemic is not easy... Photo: QA

Mr. Binh, Vinh Tan ward's face was dark after days of working in the sun to unload goods for customers at checkpoints. He confided: I went for a Covid-19 test at a cost of 240,000 VND/quick test, but it was only valid for 3 days. After 3 days, I had to test again because if I didn't have a negative test certificate, I wouldn't be allowed to go to the checkpoint to do it. Therefore, within 3 days of being granted the certificate, I had to work hard to cover the costs and have money to cover expenses during the epidemic season. Photo: QA
