Making tourism and agriculture spearheads and strengths of economic development in Quy Chau

NOT YET FULLY EXPLOITABLE POTENTIAL AND ADVANTAGES
At the working session, leaders of Quy Chau district reported to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the delegation on the results of implementing the socio-economic plan in the first 6 months of 2020, estimated implementation of targets and objectives of the Resolution of the 25th District Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020 and some orientations for the period 2020 - 2025.
Total production value in the first 6 months of 2020 reached 1,203.4 billion VND, estimated for the whole year to reach 2,504 billion VND, growth rate reached 10.4%. Economic structure shifted in the right direction, the poverty rate decreased from 50.55% (in 2015) to 20.17% (in 2020); average income per capita increased from 16.2 million VND in 2015 to 40 million VND in 2020 (estimated).

The district focuses on restructuring production, applying scientific and technical advances and mechanizing production. It has successfully built 28 new economic models, including two key economic models: dairy farming in Chau Binh commune and fruit tree planting in Chau Hanh commune.
The infrastructure system is increasingly being improved. 100% of commune-level offices and health stations are well-equipped, 89.7% of classrooms are solidly built; 249 traffic works have been completed and put into use.
In 2019, Quy Chau district ranked 10th out of 21 localities in the province in terms of administrative reform index. It did a good job of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group; National defense and security were maintained.
Regarding the preparation for the District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, up to now, 11/12 Party Committees of communes and towns, 25/25 Party Committees and affiliated Party cells have successfully held their congresses. Regarding the preparation for the District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, Quy Chau has completed the personnel plan and basically completed the draft political report to submit to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee for comments.

In addition to the achieved results, the economic development of Quy Chau district has not been commensurate with its potential and advantages; there has been no clear breakthrough. The rate of poor and near-poor households is still high. The economic scale in 2019 ranked 20th out of 21 districts, cities and towns; investment attraction is still limited, there are no driving projects.
The results of the implementation of the new rural development plan did not meet the set plan. Production and business activities are still mainly carried out by small enterprises and individual households. The implementation of forest allocation is still slow, and deforestation is at a high level.
MAKE TOURISM AND AGRICULTURE BECOME PEARLS AND STRENGTHS
Concluding the working session, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Quy Chau district for their efforts.

Based on the district's report and opinions of departments and branches, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung suggested that Quy Chau district pay more attention to the work of building new rural areas, forest allocation and protection, and poverty reduction, especially in ethnic minority areas.
“The district also needs to pay more attention to land management, because forest land in Quy Chau accounts for a large proportion, so management must be stricter. Crime prevention, especially drug crime, must be done better,” said the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

In addition to the three breakthroughs identified by Quy Chau district, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung suggested that Quy Chau focus more on administrative reform; attracting investment; developing and expanding production and business models to ensure income for people.
“We support pioneers in implementing economic models on land, capital, and technology to attract other households to participate. Supporting those who dare to think and dare to do will create jobs and value for society,” Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized.
Regarding the development direction in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the economic development perspective of Quy Chau must be placed in the situation and specific characteristics of the district for sustainable development.
"Regarding specific tasks, Quy Chau district must complete the planning and socio-economic development plan to identify potentials and advantages. Pay attention to the agricultural and forestry sector, because this is still the district's strength. Agree to convert some acacia plantation areas to grow more effective large timber trees and fruit trees."
In addition, the district needs to focus on tourism, identifying this as a key sector. In particular, focusing on developing community tourism, eco-tourism, associated with preserving national cultural identity, connecting with other localities to create a chain of links to attract and retain tourists to stay longer.
Regarding industry, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed on the policy of attracting projects to Tan Lac Industrial Park, in which the district needs to take advantage of raw material resources. Continue to ensure national security and defense in the area, creating a solid position. Continue to promote the results of the past term to build a clean and strong district Party Committee, build dedicated cadres who dare to think and dare to do.
