More than 150 people went for blood tests to help Nghe An police captain with cancer

On the morning of April 16, many people were present at the Nghe An Province Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center to wait for their turn to be tested and have their blood type checked, hoping to donate blood to Captain Nguyen Duc Giap.

In addition to 90 officers and soldiers of Nghe An Provincial Police who came to participate in the testing, there were also more than 60 people of all ages and social backgrounds from many localities who came to test their blood type in the hope of donating blood to Captain Giap.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thinh, a resident from Block 16, Quynh Xuan Ward (Hoang Mai Town), said: Through Facebook, we learned that Captain Nguyen Duc Giap needed blood type A for treatment, so my wife and son and I woke up early this morning and arrived here at exactly 7:30. Because there were a lot of people coming for testing, during the time of forced social distancing, it was not my turn yet, but I will wait until the afternoon. I really hope that my blood type is qualified to donate to Captain Giap during this period.

Informing us, specialist doctor Pham Van Thai - Head of the Blood Transfusion Department, Nghe An Province Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center said: In the morning, there were 9 people who met the criteria to donate platelets. On that basis, we will test for diseases transmitted through blood transfusion, and only if the results are negative will we proceed with the collection.
