More than 2,200 applications for admission to Vinh University High School for the Gifted

According to Vinh University, for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year, the school has more than 2,200 applications. Of these, 2,066 applications are for the specialized program and 227 applications are for the high-quality program.

In the specialized system, the English specialized class has the largest number of candidates registered for the exam, with 674 candidates. In the Math specialized class, there are 350 candidates registered for the exam. In the remaining specialized classes, the Physics class has 174 candidates registered for the exam, the Chemistry specialized class has 199 candidates, the Biology specialized class has 117 candidates, the IT specialized class has 180 candidates (of which, there are 91 candidates taking the Math exam but registered for the IT specialized class) and the Literature specialized class has 372 candidates.

Previously, according to the school's plan, this year, Vinh University High School for the Gifted will enroll 350 students for specialized classes: Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English. Of which, each specialized class will take 35 students. The specialized Math class is expected to take 70 students and the specialized English class will take 105 students. In addition, the school will enroll 4 high-quality classes with 120 students.

Candidates taking the specialized exam will take the base score from the 10th grade entrance exam + priority points (if any). In addition, candidates will have to take 1 specialized subject, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature in essay format; English in essay, multiple choice and listening comprehension format.

For the IT major, the school will recruit up to 60% of the total quota for the IT exam, the remaining quota is for the Math exam. The specialized subject score is multiplied by 1.5; the specialized subject is graded on a 20-point scale. The scores of the 3 basic subjects are Math, Literature and English on a 10-point scale.

According to this year's plan, candidates will take the exam on June 12, 2023, 4 days after the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

After many years, in 2023, Vinh University High School for the Gifted will organize its own exam instead of taking the same exam on the same day as Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted before.
