(Baonghean.vn) - This year, the entrance exam for 10th grade at Vinh University High School for the Gifted has undergone several changes, with a separate exam format instead of the same exam date as Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted as in previous years.
According to Vinh University's summary, for the 2023-2024 10th grade entrance exam, the university received over 2,200 applications. Of these, 2,066 applications were for the specialized program and 227 for the high-quality program.
In the specialized program, the English specialized class had the highest number of registered candidates, with 674 students. The Mathematics specialized class had 350 registered candidates. The remaining specialized classes had 174 registered candidates in Physics, 199 in Chemistry, 117 in Biology, 180 in Informatics (including 91 students who took the Mathematics exam but registered for the Informatics class), and 372 in Literature.

Previously, according to the school's plan, this year, Vinh University High School for Gifted Students will recruit 350 students for its specialized classes in Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, and English. Each specialized class will have 35 places. The Mathematics specialized class is expected to have 70 places, and the English specialized class 105 places. In addition, the school will recruit 120 students for 4 high-quality classes.
Candidates taking the specialized subject exam will use their base score from the 10th grade entrance exam plus any bonus points (if applicable). In addition, candidates will have to take one specialized subject exam. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Literature will be essay-based; English will be essay-based, multiple-choice, and listening comprehension.
For the Computer Science specialization, the school allocates a maximum of 60% of the total enrollment quota to the Computer Science exam, with the remaining quota reserved for the Mathematics exam. The score for the specialized subject is multiplied by 1.5; the specialized subject is graded on a 20-point scale. The scores for the three foundational subjects (Mathematics, Literature, and English) are on a 10-point scale.
According to this year's plan, candidates will take the exam on June 12, 2023, four days after the entrance exam for Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School.
After many years, in 2023, Vinh University High School for Gifted Students will organize its own entrance exam instead of sharing the same exam paper and date with Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students as before.
