Coming to Hung Thong commune when people are busy harvesting spring rice. An old farmer excitedly said, "Nowadays, with machines, farmers are freed from labor, no longer have dirty feet and hands. And this spring crop, we are very excited because the productivity, output, and value are all high..."

Comrade Cao Anh Duc - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Thong commune shared: To have a bumper spring crop, with a rice area of ​​6.5 - 7 tons/ha, high economic value, in addition to favorable weather factors, in recent years, through mobilizing resources and consensus contributions from the people, Hung Thong commune has invested in upgrading and further perfecting the irrigation system, better ensuring irrigation water sources.

The locality also focused on directing the successful construction of two large fields associated with the introduction of new rice varieties to ensure that the basic area of ​​the fields is pure rice. This is the basis for Hung Thong commune to strive to become a commercial rice production area of ​​the district. At the same time, the Party Committee and the government also focused on mobilizing people to develop garden economy, mainly growing fruit trees combined with commercial vegetables; livestock farming was shifted from cattle to poultry as the main force with a total herd of more than 42,000 heads.

Hung Thong commune has a favorable location, located on Provincial Road 542C, convenient for traffic with neighboring communes of the district and some communes of Nam Dan district and Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh) to Vinh city, so the development of industries, services, and trade is prioritized by local leaders and direction.

In addition to encouraging people to be self-reliant and develop their professions, during the term, the locality has called for and prioritized capital to upgrade Thong market to become a hub for trading agricultural products of neighboring communes of the district and communes of Nam Dan and Duc Tho districts.

In addition, the Party Committee and the commune government also pay attention to directing and creating all conditions for people to participate in labor export; on average, 80 people go to work abroad each year. Currently, the commune has 419 people going to work abroad and the money sent back from labor export in 5 years is about more than 375 billion VND.

In the commune, there are currently 45 households providing rice milling, mechanical, construction material trading, transportation, and wedding services; 20 masonry and painting teams; 30 plows and 8 combine harvesters; dozens of households providing agricultural supplies, grocery, food, and civil electricity services.

In the implementation of new rural construction, in 5 years, Hung Thong commune has mobilized a total capital of nearly 37 billion VND to renew and upgrade 8.5 km of concrete road; more than 1 km of asphalt road; 7 km of intra-field irrigation canal; upgrade schools, medical stations, renovate the commune cultural house, Martyrs Memorial; build 5 cheering clusters...

Education and cultural life are cared for and encouraged to develop. Two kindergartens and primary schools are recognized as meeting level 2 standards. In particular, the physical education and sports movement has become a daily personal need of each citizen; besides improving health, it also creates a healthy lifestyle movement in the locality.

Lessons learned and new determination

The results of the efforts of the Party Committee and people of Hung Thong commune in the 2015 - 2020 term have affirmed the new progress of the locality. And the lessons learned, according to comrade Pham Viet Nam - Secretary of the Party Committee of the commune, in addition to the role of leadership, direction, and giving policies and resolutions to focus on each time, each major and key task of the Party Committee, Party Committee and People's Council, it is necessary to mention the capacity and determination in organizing and implementing with many positive solutions of the government that have decisive significance, including solutions to innovate the way of directing, working style, raising awareness and responsibility of the team of cadres, civil servants, especially the leaders.

During the past term, Hung Thong commune continued to mobilize resources to build and upgrade the irrigation system.

At the same time, pay attention to resolving pressing issues, recommendations and reflections from the people, especially the granting of land use right certificates for land granted beyond authority, or land disputes, petitions from citizens and the needs and interests of the people; thereby enhancing people's trust in the management work of the government.

The activities of the Fatherland Front and mass organizations have been innovated in terms of content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction. Through the implementation of the policy of merging hamlets (reduced from 11 hamlets to 4 hamlets), from the Party cell to the hamlet management board, the responsibilities in implementing the policies and resolutions of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations of the commune in each residential area have been clearly defined.

Hung Thong commune Party Committee and government always promote democracy well, all policies are brought up for public discussion.

Also from the results of the 2015 - 2020 term, it can be seen that in order for Hung Thong commune to develop commensurate with its potential and geographical advantages, located on Provincial Road 542C, the road connecting 3 relics: Kim Lien relic site, General Secretary Le Hong Phong memorial site and Central Region Party Committee relic site; being the homeland with historical and cultural traditions, the homeland of General Secretary Le Hong Phong and many revolutionary veterans, many mid- and high-ranking military officials, many leaders at all levels...; is the pain and concern of the Party Committee, government, political system and people here.

An elder in the commune shared: The qualities of Hung Thong people in general are straightforward, honest, hardworking and very revolutionary. However, there are still a number of cadres, party members and people who are conservative, narrow-minded, passive, rigid and afraid of innovation. This is an obstacle and when the above problems are resolved in the 2020 - 2025 term, Hung Thong commune will have all the factors of "heavenly time, favorable location, and harmony" to achieve the goals and tasks set out in the new term, bringing Hung Thong commune to develop in line with the tradition of the homeland, worthy of being the homeland of General Secretary Le Hong Phong.
