60th Anniversary of the Faculty of Philology - Literature Department, Vinh University

On the morning of September 20, Vinh University and the Institute of Social Pedagogy solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Faculty of Philology - Literature major.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Khoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Party Secretary, Principal of Vinh University; and many teachers and students of the university.generation of the Faculty of Literature - the school's Literature department.

Faculty of Literature - Literature is one of the first two faculties, with a history closely linked to the history of Vinh University. 60 years ago, at 7:00 a.m. on October 18, 1959, the first class of the Faculty of Literature taught by teacher Le Hoai Nam was a Vietnamese Literature class.

Up to now (2019), the Faculty of Literature - Vinh University of Education has changed its name many times, from the Faculty of Literature to the Faculty of Literature, to the Faculty of Literature Pedagogy and now the Faculty of Literature under the Institute of Social Pedagogy - Vinh University.

Together with the school, the Faculty of Literature has promptly responded with high quality to the needs of teachers and researchers for the education and training career of the whole country.

The faculty’s training programs not only attract students from the North Central region but also from the North and the South. In the past 10 years, the faculty has also been assigned to teach Vietnamese to students from Laos, Thailand, and Cameroon.

Over the past 60 years, the Faculty of Literature has trained more than 10,000 full-time students, nearly 2,500 part-time students, more than 1,500 full-time bachelors of science, nearly 1,300 part-time and joint bachelors of science, more than 1,500 masters and 35 doctors. From the Faculty of Literature Pedagogy - Literature Pedagogy, generations of students and trainees have always shone with many exemplary factors in various fields and activities across the country.

At the ceremony, representatives of Vinh University's leadership acknowledged and praised the outstanding contributions of the Faculty of Philology - Literature Department to the school and the country's educational cause. This is the result of a proactive, positive and effective collective in fostering staff capacity, promoting scientific research to become a cradle for teacher training, a typical and reliable center for literary and linguistic research in the country. At the same time, they expressed their hope that, with that fine tradition, the Faculty of Philology - Literature Department will continue to make many outstanding contributions to the cause of building and developing Vinh University in the integration period.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Training also awarded a Certificate of Merit to the Faculty of Philology - Literature Department for its outstanding contributions and achievements in training and scientific research.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, former student of the 27th course of Literature, Vinh University shared:

33 years ago, we were students from all over the world, excited to become students of the Faculty of Literature, Vinh Pedagogical University. Following us until now is the image of teachers, with enthusiasm, responsibility, passion for the profession, dedication, helping to pass on to us knowledge, professional skills, building a foundation of knowledge, teaching us how to be human, so that we can develop our career path. No matter what agency, locality, unit we work in, in what position, we are always proud to be alumni of the Faculty of Literature, Vinh University. At today's ceremony, we, the students of the Faculty of Literature, express our deep gratitude to the teachers who have devoted themselves to the cause of education, to the Literature industry of the school, to generations of students. And let us conclude with the saying "Even if we spread our wings in many directions, we will never forget the gratitude of teachers, friendship and school spirit".
