Mr. Lang Xuan Chinh - Chairman of Chau Binh Commune People's Committee said: "On the evening of July 17, due to the influence of low pressure, heavy rain, and floods from the forest, the sewers were washed away, cutting off the inter-commune traffic route, so all traffic here was interrupted. Currently, at the scene, there are only 2 sewers left out of a total of 7 sewers crossing here.

We have directed cadres and people to build a temporary bridge for people and motorbikes to cross, ensuring traffic for 5,000 people of the two communes.

Previously, in September 2017, the Chau Tien - Chau Binh inter-commune road of Quy Chau district was flooded and the embankment collapsed, many sewer pipes were washed away, causing traffic jams and difficulties for traffic participants. After that, the commune authorities temporarily fixed the problem by lifting the sewer pipes, reinstalling them and spreading crushed stone on top to ensure traffic. In early May 2018, the flood washed away some sewer pipes, causing landslides, affecting the structure of the sewer, containing potential risks when the flood continued.

As of the morning of July 18, Quy Chau district had 20m of road eroded, 0.1ha of fish pond broken,... estimated damage of about 400 million VND.

In the district, there are currently 13 reservoirs with high water levels and two hydropower plants, Nam Pong Hydropower Plant and Chau Thang Hydropower Plant, have plans to announce flood discharge so that people can proactively prevent flooding.

According to the report, currently in the whole Quy Chau district, there are 198 households at risk of flooding, 75 households are in areas at risk of dangerous landslides. 26 landslide points need to be constantly on duty to warn and 37 spillways have been and are at high risk of flooding.

The district's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has organized inspection teams in 12 communes and towns to encourage people working in the forest to return home; agencies, units and households in the affected areas to move their belongings out of the danger zone; and move materials and machinery from construction sites. Dams need to forecast water levels and develop flood discharge plans so that people downstream can proactively prevent natural disasters...
