Floods rise downstream of Lam River, many rice and crops in Hung Nguyen are deeply submerged.
(Baonghean.vn) - During the night of August 19 and morning of August 20, the water level of Lam River rose, causing many crop areas in Hung Nguyen district to be heavily flooded.

In Hung Nhan commune, the measured water level has risen from 1.5 to 2 meters compared to August 19, the deeply flooded areas are concentrated in hamlets 1, 2, 3, 9. The whole commune has 128 hectares of summer-autumn rice, but more than 70% of the area is flooded and is unlikely to recover. In addition, 100/135 hectares of crops are also submerged in water.
Ms. Pham Thi Lien in Hamlet 1, Hung Nhan Commune said: "The water rose very quickly, and in no time the rice fields and crops in Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 2 were flooded. My family has 12 sao of rice and crops that are now completely flooded.
Many rice fields along the Lam River dike (Hung Nguyen) are nearing harvest season and could be completely lost if the water level continues to rise as it is now.
According to Mr. Hoang Duc An - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Hung Nguyen district: According to statistics, there are currently 500 hectares of rice and 1,000 hectares of crops along the Lam left dike that are completely flooded due to the water flowing from upstream. The district has set up a working group to inspect the localities, and at the same time directed the communes to call on people to move, raise their assets, and assign people to be on duty at key points to report promptly.
