As one of the localities with the most children working abroad in the district,Son Thanh communeYen Thanh district (Nghe An) is famous for its commune with many villas.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau - Chairman of Son Thanh Commune People's Committee, in previous years, the annual amount ofremittancessent to the locality over 16 million USD (nearly 400 billion VND); but in 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, many children had reduced their jobs, so the amount of remittances sent back decreased sharply, estimated at about 50%, down to about 8 million USD (nearly 200 billion VND).

Children working abroad have had income for many years, so Son Thanh people have the conditions to build high-rise buildings, buy cars and expensive living facilities.
