Improving the quality of journalists in response to the requirements of the 4.0 industrial revolution
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 8, in Vinh City, the Journalists Association of the North Central Region Emulation Cluster organized the Workshop "North Central Region Journalism - Improving professional qualifications and skills in the 4.0 industrial revolution".
Attending the workshop were comrades: Ho Quang Loi - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association; Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of Journalists Associations of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces.

The 4.0 industrial revolution with the combination of digital technology and information, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing... has been creating a dramatic change in all journalism activities, including a leap in the speed of production skills and the spread of journalism skills.
These changes bring many opportunities and favorable premises for the rapid and strong development of journalism from production, distribution, broadcasting, and posting. At the same time, they will create new pressure forcing leaders of press agencies, reporters, journalists, and technicians to change their thinking and working methods in the creation of journalistic works.

Reality is posing great challenges for reporters, journalists, and press agencies that need to master technology to bring their journalistic works to the public through the online environment.
The workshop on professional skills to build a team of journalists in response to the requirements of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution is an opportunity for journalists to meet and discuss the advantages and challenges of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution to current journalism work.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the role of press agencies in the past time in promptly reporting and reflecting issues and events taking place in the province, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of Nghe An; contributing to the good implementation of Resolution 26 of the Politburo, creating an important premise to contribute to the socio-economic development of Nghe An in the period of 2015 - 2020.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: The 4.0 industrial revolution has been and is dramatically changing all press activities. Journalists need to seize opportunities well, proactively face challenges to make many positive and important contributions to the socio-economic development of the country in general and continue to accompany the socio-economic development of Nghe An province in particular.
Challenges for journalists
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ho Quang Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association stated: The 4.0 industrial revolution is creating new opportunities but also full of difficulties and challenges. To adapt and master digital media technology, press agencies and journalists must change to create new competition. This change needs to start with the factor of training and fostering people in 3 major aspects, which are: Political capacity; Professional qualifications, especially smart technology serving operations and publishing; Professional ethics.

The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association emphasized: Currently, social networks are a big challenge for the press. The press must not follow social networks but must surpass them in accuracy. The press must respond to the issues raised by social networks. The responsibility of the press is to establish the reliability of information. Journalists must be exemplary and responsible when participating in social networks.
At the conference, there were 20 presentations focusing on 3 main issues: Industrial Revolution 4.0 with the current development of our country's press; press management and direction work in the face of the development of social networks, new journalism technology and multimedia journalism; journalistic work, journalistic ethics in the information explosion./.
